Halo assault rifle mod for Doom^3
From all the weapons in Doom3, it is only the machinegun that somewhat I see entirely unfitting. I can perfectly imagine the game going on without any big change to it even if the machinegun was absent at the root, for the sake of better emphasis put on the neighbouring guns, such as the chaingun, the shotgun and the plasmagun. Since we do have the machinegun, though, the aesthetics of which in particular I question as the best box of choices - certianly there is a thought behind it, making it a big potential utility - I would say, perhaps a mod could warp us some alternative?

Halo is a different lineage of shooters to the legacy developed by the iD, doing some things right, some things wrong, as each game has. If I could steal one asset from Halo and get away with it, in order to use that asset in a mod, that would be an assault rifle.

This is the thing I would see to substitute the current Doom3 machinegun. The problem is, I guess, with the visuals of hands holding the gun, as in Doom3 what is distinct, is that armours feature naked hands, which I understand to be particularly introduced for the sake of consistent first person view display of the guns holding. Ways?

Speaking of weapons in mods, this is what I call weaponfest - these are actual mods for Doom3 - note how different guns have different modes of fire, treating ammo rather in terms of energy supply than actual firearm clockwork bullets the way we have them:

Speaking of machinegun, shotgun, chaingun and plasmagun, I like how these weapons feel in the Phrozo Mod 2 - link HERE - especially speaking of the machinegun. Unfortunately, I had some minor issues running the mod with Doom3 sourceport, albeit it could be the case of my machine only. Namely, the particles - which I knew ought to be there at the point bullet contact - did not display at all. They worked though with regular Doom3 version tuned up with "autoexec".

Returning to the case of Halo assault rifle for Doom^3 - in place of the machinegun - I think the Halo 3 assault rifle is most accessible, since Halo 2 - which is available on PC - does not have the assault rifle in the gunscape and what is being shown in the video regards the Anniversary edition, released only for the gameboxes. Halo 2 does have the battle rifle instead, but it is a different thing. Halo Combat Evolved model is nice, but the original game is a bit obsolete for Doom^3 standards. But hey, you can check something out. There is a mod called "SPV3", a total overhaul of the Combat Evolved campaign. It has a newer version of the assault rifle. Maybe it can be scrapped from there - just the model, since the specs remain Doom^3, Killatomate, to be exact:

Assault rifle at time "00:40". Impressive, is it not? But couple of Doom^3 mods reach the same level of dedication. "SPV3" will install upon giving a Combat Evolved PC-CD key, but since we just want to steal some assets and not play the entire game, I guess a free floating key will be okay. Zoom mode can be skipped, next to particles, as well as the melee to be understood. We should perhaps also stay with the sound the Killatomate has introduced, it has that edge to it. It is realistic, after all. But I like the sound of the assault rifle from the old Combat Evolved, so maybe that.

Alternatively, Halo 3 assault rifle can be warped from "Eldewrito", an unofficial Halo 3 PC dedicated multiplayer - enriched in may ways - reassembled from a fallen Halo Online official project. I think I like that one more. Though the best looking Halo assault rifle is prolly the one from the Reach. The Halo 4 version - current of "Eldewrito" - is not bad either. "Eldewrito 6.0" assault rifle at time "00:45". Obtaining of "Eldewrito" can now be more difficult, as Microsoft took it down:

Mind though one thing about the sequences. If the reload occurs when there is still at least one bullet in the barrel ready to shoot, the manual repeating of the lever [or how do you name that] ought not to occur, unless you want to eject a bullet. On the other hand, if the weapon is run dry and entire new load of ammo has been loaded, there is repeating, to manually bring a bullet to the barrel and ready a gun for automatic or semiautomatic mode. The principle behind that is very simple. If there are zero bullets in the gun, you have to put one in the barrel to set up a chain reaction. If there is a bullet in the barrel but you replace an ammo storage for the gun, the new ammo storage links up to the bullet present in the barrel and the chain reaction goes uninterrupted. This is if we take the Halo gun model, which respects these laws. Otherwise, hi-tech futuristic amnestia [do not mistake with amnesia].

is a simple mod with the goal of putting the events of DOOM 3 in the Halo Universe. This means Halo weapons, character models, and lore.
Big scope, big dreams, but I do not quite get the "lore" thing.
