doom 3 redux mod
Hello,
Ive just found out about this fine looking mod "Doom 3 redux" that you can find here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/doom-3-redux

I wonder if someone could explain if it is possible to use other mods togheter with this overhaul. Im thinking about flashlight on weapon, better looking npcs and particles.

You might drag and drop their .pk4 in a single folder in game directory. But their proper functionality is not guaranteed.

Thank you taking your time :). Ive tried that and did not get the proper function as you said :). Is there any program I should use to merge the mods or should i try to contact the mod maker?

It's a pity, but there is no such program.
Since the functionality of bulk of mods depend on their content in .pk4, you might try to remove the contradicting content and replace the one, you are interested in, after opening the .pk4 as .zip. But it will require proper comprehenion of mod itself.
Also, cosidering the particle mod, I had it functioning with redux well.

And, btw, what NPC improvement did you mention?

Cheers for the answer. I will try to dig into the .pk4 content.
About NPC I did just wonder if there was any for the Redux mod.

Thanks for the recommendation, it looks really good.

The "YAFM-Headlight" mod works with REDUX, just copy the pk4 file of the mod to the "base" folder of Doom 3, start the NORMAL game (not redux) and set the custom button for the modded flashlight and as soon as you're done, go back to the redux game and have fun with your new flashlight mod.

I just found that this is not compatible with Redux. In normal mode I was able to assign a keybinding, but then when running via Redux the button doesn't toggle a light. I can tell that the mod is loaded as it restarts the character at the beginning of the level.

I just tried it too (what are the chances we're both trying to get this working on redux on the same day lol) it works fine. You have to drop the yafm-hl.pk4 into the redux folder than open console and bind the head lamp bc its not in the redux options
bind v toggle headlight_toggler

only problem i have is when I do this it switches the main menu background and UI to the original doom 3 not the fancy new one redux adds

edit: you can fix that by going into yafm-hl.pk4 with 7zip or whatever archive program and deleting the uis folder.

For some reason cherubs are like fullbright and invincible to everything but explosives in redux for me.

I have the exact same Problem with the cherubs. They are transparent and can only be hurt/killed by grenades, rockets or the plasma-gun (and take a lot of shots).
I guess it´s maybe about projectiles so that the hitscan weapons (like shotgun & machinegun) can´t hit them somehow?
I first tried to go into every pak4 file and change the scripts and delete everything connected to the cherubs, but they still appear the same...
Did you or someone figure out how to fix this? How do i revert the cherubs just to the unmodded vanilla doom 3 style (but within redux mod)?

Try D3HDP instead, Redux requires some fixes and it's now outdated after 3 years.

D3HDP is really a great collection of HD-Textures and models, great work! Thx for the work and advice! ...i actually merged it together with redux (together with a couple of different graphical mods) and edited the hell out of the configs to make it look the best. I really like some of the shaders and lightning of redux though.
So far on my playthrough there is only the issue with the cherubs, everything else looks absolutely stunningly great!

It's more than a simple collection, I fixed so many mistakes of textures and original bugs than no one solved in 18 years, I also reproduced hd textures that Redux developer never released, and this with some important map fixes, it doesn't requires the old Redux. Probably you'll have a large number of textures to load, I hope to you everything will be fine with both mods in same time, cherub shoulb be fine now. If not just exclude Redux from your game until it will be updated.

It really is an amazing HD mod! Especially the texturework and the bumbmapping are incredible. Thanks for the hard work!
(And it does indeed work perfectly together with redux on my machine. Except those damn cherubs, screw them! I am just killing all of them with granades now in my playthrough.)
