DOOM 3
DOOM 3 Absolute HD Mod low framerate on high end pc
I've been tinkering around with doom 3 mods for a while to see which one looks the best. (Since bfg edition completely took out the seperate flashlight and got rid of half the horror aspect)

and I think by FAR the most amazing doom 3 mod I've ever seen, is the absolute HD mod.
This makes it look even better than the bfg edition and restores the kickass eax sound quality if it doesn't work on your system (most likely doesn't unless your pc is win xp or older)

So I first tried launching the mod under a win 7 pc, with a core 2 duo, 4gb ram, and gtx 650,
Ran like absolute SH1T, despire those being met with the reccomended specs. tried lowering everything and no matter what, I still get under 25fps.
so me, still thinking it was a hardware problem, decided to wait until I get a much better pc.

Few months ago, I got a laptop with windows 10, 16gb ram, intel core i7, and a gtx 980m, I can max out ANY game I play at a smooth 60fps (besides witcher 3, runs 60 on high and 35 on max)
I've played newer games like doom. resident evil 7, dishonored 2, all of them work flawlessly at 60fps.
But then I remembered this absolute hd mod thing, and I got excited. Gave it a shot, and welp to my disappointment, it ran the EXACT SAME WAY it did on my old pc.
wtf???
Tried disaling things here and there, not a single diffrence.

There is no way that this mod is lagging on a gtx980m, I've seen people run it at 60 on a 750m with everything turned up, but none of them will reply to me or knows why it works for them and not me when I ask.

Can someone please help me?
I'm on the verge of pulling my hair out.
This is the best doom 3 experience possible, and yet it's running worse than a cow turd.

if you've never seen it, check it out.
It's beautiful.

If I remember correctly, soft shadows (in sikkmod options) were what destroyed my framerate

Did you end up finding a fix for this if not what i did was disable the normal in game options for AA and Anisotropy
