Ok, thanks for FYI
It is Still going on.. I took Moscow, FINALLY...so I think I am going to win..but...man..it was back and forth for a LONG, LONG, time. Great game.
The problem was I had Japan running rampant. So much so he had to divert his American forces or Moscow would have fallen.
No b.s. Both Africa and East Asia fell to Axis...went BACK to Allies then BACK to Axis.
And not because of bad play. Just a good game.
Complicated and great game.
(and to be clear..I mean...Germany had like 20+ stack and fighters surrounded by 2 stacks so...it LOOKED bad...but not as bad as it looked )
But in the long term......It puts the long game on the Axis side instead of the Allies side. Which is very interesting.
No bombing...I do not like strategic bombing. While I am sure it has it's place....i hate how much it relies on Dice rolls and luck. I focused on cutting off British IPC in Africa, Asia and Australia with the long term goal of making it a LONG game....IN FAVOR of the Axis (where normally long games favor the allies)
And when I say focused..I mean REALLY focused...as in...I was barley offensive on eastern front with Germany at all. Just enough to keep Russia from being able to get cute.
LOL - keeping Russia from getting cute. I like that. I assume then that the US was concentrating on shuttling troops to Europe and not harassing Japan in the Pacific very much?
While I was waiting for the end of the current season to avoid games with potential stalling (not that I have actually experienced it yet, but you read the posts), I played hot-seat against myself to see if I could beat me :) Kind of hard to not tell yourself what you're going to do next, but I found if I just played each Nation's turn as that Nation and didn't think ahead to how I would counter the moves I was making, it became easier and was actually fun thinking ýeah suck on this move, me - how are you going to deal with that?'
Long story short, I did find that if Japan was not too troubled by the US and Germany retained it's battleship and transport (not that I didn't try and sink them - terrible rolls) then the longer it went on, the more Axis was gaining the upper hand.
It's still a match in progress, but I think I'll win and I can suck it, when I beat me.
In any case, I like the bleeding UK idea.
haha, sounds fun. I Like the 'playing yourself Idea"
