Axis & Allies 1942 Second Edition was released in July 2012, so the boardgame we're basing our game on, was actually released much later than the video game you mention.
I would recommend Axis & Allies 1942 Online to any A&A fan, period. Start playing Multiplayer against human opponents, and there won't be any way back, only forward, to master your strategy and become better with every match.
This is just a recreation of the board game in online format. Nothing much like the Atari game that was thematically related to the board game.
