Ranked game frustration
I would like to suggest the rules for Ranked games be changed that a player must take one turn with each power each day. I have two opponents lately only take one country turn as allies per day to maximally delay a game I am most likely going to win. The result I have had two games that are already over two weeks, and will probably take another week to complete. I have never done this to an opponent. I understand this can happen occasionally with work / life, but when the turns are regular until the game turns against someone and they magically take 23.5 hrs. to play their turn from that point on, this is very frustrating.

I could see it being a setting that people voluntarily opt into but to mandate that type of thing seems odd. I wish there were lobbies for players that wanted to sit and play entire games for several consecutive hours.

When we have tournaments, all players agree to play two turns / day minimum. This is not hard to do. No one has to play for consecutive hours, but I like your ideas! Usually when people set up a custom game, they will name it 1 v 1 2 hour blitz so everyone knows what is expected.

I am sure I am not the only one who has experienced these last minute turns once the game has gone against the other players. this would only apply to ranked games. Leisure games like custom games with my friends, I do not care how often we play and we usually give players as long as we need. But in Ranked games, I would like to think there is a higher standard.

I disagree. With work and family commitments playing one turn a day is all that I can manage most days. I typically play once a day and probably look like I am stalling games(I usually just quit games I am losing). I do think that USA and Russia could be made to be played on the same day.

Completely understand. If the timing of the play is consistent, this reflects exactly the point you are making. My problem is when the play is fast until a player starts losing and then the play slows down to a crawl. Thanks for your point!

If the time zones line up (well, or least hours we are awake and free) I notice my games go fast. If my opponent makes his moves after 10pm my time, we get into a lag where we aren't playing at the same time. That makes it harder to play more than one faction/day. I have come down to the wire a few times myself if things are busy.

That said, yes, USA and Russia need to be the same 24 hour period.

We need a reporting system where offending players will get a warning and then ban from ranked after multiple reports.

As frustrating as having a game dragged out can be, going for a turn length less than 24 hours just isn't practical. I can't play while I'm at work, and I don't want to have to wake up extra early to take a turn before work. On my days off I can take plenty of turns, but on a working day I just have time after work before bed to get my round in.

And there is such a thing as time zones.

I was thinking of a way to minimize this. What if the game kept track of the total amount of time taken by each player averaged out over the total number of rounds. You would obviously need to factor in that the Allies play 3 countries but the idea would be that the greater the difference in the amount of time taken the more you would lose or gain in points. You would always have the guys that can only play one round a day but it may just deter the guys taking 24 hours with Russia when there are no Russians left on the board.

Why does forfeiting a game give a penalty? And why maybe?
I have a game where after 16 good rounds all are lost. I cant win, but It will take the Axis many turns before they take London or enter the US. No fun in dragging it out.
I can see the point if players ditch a came after less than optimal start.

I'm currently in a game right now with a higher level player. I'm tempted to name him but I'll hold back. It's Round 14 and I'm going to win this game. I'm Axis and have knocked out USSR and Great Britain. When it's USSR's turn, it takes 23.5 hours for him to click on all the advance buttons. When it's GB's turn, it's the same. When the game was in earlier rounds and it wasn't clear who was going to win, he played his turns just like everyone else: quickly.
I really think this is poor sportsmanship and the guy should have a little bit more class.

Forfeiting a game doesn't result in any penalty.
