Axis & Allies 1942 Online

Are players cheating?
Most games I play are clearly legit games with legit players. But I played a game recently with overnight gaps between moves. I was Germany + Japan. My single opponent played all 3 Allies countries. Somehow after his 2nd round turn as Russia he was able to skip my Germany turn and my Japan turn so that when I logged back into the game we were on round 3 and he had accumulated significant resources with that extra turn but I had only moved one time. Am I imagining things? It seems like there are some cheaters out there.

First double check the war diary, that'll determine for sure if your turn got skipped. Second, is there anyone else with access to your computer or your account that could have skipped your turn for you?

Such cheating is not possible in our game, to our knowledge. Are you sure it was the same game?

I have been a gamer for almost 30 years in those 30 years top ten in AOE, COD, MAG,ATWAR......THIS GAME IS TRASH......NOT A SNOWBALL CHANCE IN HELL IN THESE DICE ROLLS......SAVE YOUR MONEY

From my experience the dice rolls are a very small factor in the outcome of most games. Sure, if you get screwed by the dice in round 1 it can be hard. But just as often sometimes the dice go in your favor surprisingly.

The biggest thing I've seen that leads people to lose is bad tactics. They put their expensive units in harm's way and get them killed unnecessarily trying to be aggressive. There are a lot of bad, over aggressive, impatient players. I bet there's a strong correlation between the players complaining about dice and these types of players who are too aggressive.

The second most common thing I've seen that leads to people losing is bad strategy like building way too many industrial complexes instead of using the ones that you have already or trying to control the Atlantic with Germany when you should be focused on land.

I think it's a great game and have found no problem with the dice.

Hi there! We're developing Axis & Allies 1942 Online in Early Access and paying a lot of attention to what the community says.

One topic that has always been the main subject in the community is the dice. This is why we want players and people interested in the game vote in the survey.

If you want to add me as a friend I’m happy to have a few non-ranked friendly games and we can test it out.

The dice can be really bad for some. Idk why, but some people clearly get better luck than others. It's not about losing battles in defense. Let's take land trades. Archangel? SU has 2 infantry? I attack with 3 infantry 2 fighters? I retreat with my fighters having lost my 3 infantry. Ok, fine, it happens. But what if that happened more than half the time? You cant not make that attack. It's a 99.5%. And your opponent is going to make that move everytime, and unless they are one of the "unlucky" they will win that everytime.

With a battle like 3 infantry, 2 fighters vs 2 infantry actually 5% of the time you're going to end up losing 3 infantry and retreating.

Someone that actually knows the odds is probably not the type of person complaining about bad dice. I just find it really hard to believe that the dice are out to screw certain people. I think it's their perception.

For me, anything below 95% is a risky battle. I think we have a few things going on. For one, bad players don't really understand the odds of a given battle. Most players don't use a battle calculator. They don't understand basic things like deadzones or tactics of when to attack and when not to attack.

I know this because when I'm matched up with a random player in a placement game, 95% of the time that's going to be a cakewalk game, and almost every time it's because the player is too aggressive. Rarely do you find a player who is a poor player because they are not aggressive enough.

Another factor is that people are not very good for the most part with probabilities. If people were good with that, no one would be buying lottery tickets. They take a given battle where they are favored in it, and then round that up to 100% I should win that. When they don't win, they blame the dice.

Another thing that is going on is that we have a lot of people playing the game and a lot of dice rolling going on. The sheer volume of rolling means that you're going to see more really extreme results, and these get reported on. No one is reporting the more normal results that happen way more frequently.

Well said EricB. I get that a computer generated PRNG isn't the exact same thing as true perfect randomness. Are those subtle differences what's causing the bulk of the dice complaints? No way. Most odds graphers use PRNGs to simulate battles thousands of times and no one ever complains the odds grapher is broke. When you see the results of 1000 battles all at once it looks fine. When you see the results 1 at a time it's a shocker when the 1 in a thousand chance happens.

I use a battle calculator. And I could handle that 5%. I'm getting that at 50%.

I totally agree with you! I invaded Trans-Jordan with 2 inf, 1 art, and 1 arm. Defender had 1 inf and 1 arm. I had my ass handed to me- defender survived with a tank- but that's just how it goes. I've been playing since 2000/2001. Sometimes the "dice gods" give favor... other times they don't. Anyway, how can I send you (or anyone) a friend request? That's why I'm in this discussion. It's hard to find good information here...
uhuru78 Jan 2, 2021 @ 12:39pm
And how can I send a friend request to my current opponent? I'm told that I need a 4-digit user ID to go with the username... ???
rocky1242 Jan 2, 2021 @ 4:26pm
As far as I know the only way to it is, you have to wait until the game is over, then go to your game history, click view profile on him then click add friend. Not the best system, but it's what we've got.
