Tech Tree Option
I was wondering if there was any interest in having a tech tree as a play option. In my mind, it could look something like this:

Have six tech choices that each cost a certain number of IPs. For instance, there could be a "Jet Power" tech which, like in the old A&A version, allows fighters to defend at 5 instead of 4. You could purchase this tech for a certain number of IPs and you can buy portion of the IP investment over numerous turns. The initial amount that comes to my mind is somewhere in the 30-35 range. So, for example, you could spend 10 IPs over three turns to purchase the technology.

Exactly what this number of IPs is would need to be play tested, but we can be certain that IPs of a particular type would make it a plausible choice. For instance, if Jet Power cost 1 IP than it would make sense for almost every country to purchase it. If it costs 150 IP than probably no power should purchase it. Somewhere between those numbers is a sweet spot where it becomes a strategic option.

Other technologies, and my first IP estimates (which of course need play testing) that come to mind (some borrowed from previous A&A version) are:

Long-rage aircraft (40 IPs): Fighters move 6 bombers move 8.
Super Subs (35IPs): Submarines attack at 3.
Industrial Technology (60IPs): Reduce the cost of all units by 1IP.
Heavy Bombers (45IPs): Each bomber rolls two dice instead of one when attacking.
Combined Arms (35 IPs): In the same way infrantry can be paired with artillery to give infantry +1 attack, Armor can be paired with artillery to give armor +1 attack (bringing armor attack to 4).
Advanced Manufacturing (40IPs): Industrial factories may produce 2x the amount of units (e.g., 6 units on a "3" country like Manchuria)
Mechanized Infantry (50IPs): Infantry may move two spaces and gain the blitz ability.

I'd love to hear other peoples ideas for technology choices!

If it's not part of the boxed game set you can purchase, it is unlikely to come to this version.

I think it's an interesting idea, but I'd prefer to see the devs move on later down the road to other AA versions and revisions before adding custom feature sets to existing games.

Hi! Our game is an adaptation of Axis & Allies 1942, 2nd Edition, the board game. Technology is not a part of this ruleset. https://media.wizards.com/2015/rules/AA_1942_rules.pdf

We might be interested in exploring other box sets in the future, but for now, we're fully focused on polishing the game.

I would like to see some of the rules from Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition implemented, which is my favorite edition. Or maybe like new units like the Mechanized Infantry and Tactical Bombers from Axis & Allies Pacific 1940.

There's 2 rulesets already. My guess is more will come so long as people keep buying the game.
