There are ways to work as a 'team' such as not attacking each other or actions like placing gadgets in eachother's buildings but nothing concrete like allied victories. You can also swap the goods acquired at Steptoe's Yard by picking them p and taking them to another Steptoe's Yard owned by someone else.
We'd implemented some special multiplayer features just before Christmas in the new s3public_beta branch. This also includes multiplayer saves which can be loaded by starting a custom game lobby. However, we've not had any feedback on the new multiplayer changes as of yet, and it leads us to suspect multiplayer is not quite as popular as we'd hope.
Hope this answers everything satisfactorily. If you have further questions don't hesitate to ask.
Regards
