Constructor Plus
Curiosity: what happened to Constructor II (1998)?
I didn’t even know this existed until some days ago: in 1998 a proper (and space themed) sequel to Constructor — not 1999’s Mob Rule / Street Wars — was in the works. When I found this note linked below, with an actual image of the game, I felt I was looking into an alternative reality: Constructor II in space, with undesirable “newcomers such as the Alien egg, a walking embryo which impregnates its victims, subsequently causing their guts to burst open all over the carpet” — in 1998 I would be crazy hyped for this game, but back then I never heard of it. It was absolute heyday of original Constructor, so it’s a bit intriguing that game never happened...

Just look at that sneak peek there: the actions buttons in the top, the spaceship building, the sci-fi item in the garden, the mars-ish terrain, the planet displayed, the new character old-school style... Anyway, I’m glad Constructor Plus did take the franchise to space after all. :)

Edit: Steam doesn't display the note that well, so another link here:

Promotional graphics aside it never got very far into development. Development was shifted to Mob Rule as that was deemed more appealing to the market at the time.
