Reiterating after months without any support assistance or further patches:My controller got utterly screwed by the most recent update for no good reason
I am using an XBox 360 controller. It shouldn't require that I map the whole thing to keyboard functions for me to use a controller in a way that doesn't recover enough of the native controller support. I even have times where one of the buttons turns absolutely every single button while in a battle into the map square info functionality, meaning the only thing that allows me to continue playing in those points is to plug my mouse back in, right-click the screen, tell it to suspend and not to continue playing, then exit out of the game, then go back in. It used to be that the ONLY thing my controller needed was for me to swap the A button and B button on the controller. I can't do diagonal movement anymore, I can't press the ordinary buttons for swapping between pilots on the info screen, anything that isn't the basic select/cancel functions in a battle requires me to keep using the keyboard instead of my controller.

To add further details to this: This issue only affects SRW 30. I have to allow Steam Input to override the game or else it doesn't respond to any controllers of any kind at all. Previous patches never caused problems for my game. It isn't an issue with the Steam version, game file integrity, anything but the most recent patch. I asked for assistance on here months ago and received no response, no patch has fixed the issue. I would have finished my first run of the game by now if not for this very distressing issue. Somehow when both the controller and the keyboard get affected, the mouse functions appropriately. I am not able to write code, otherwise I would probably have tried to fix the issue myself. I feel like the only thing that could work, not that I would ever do it, would be to find Banpresto's corporate phone number and scream at someone to fix this issue. I love this game series, and the fact that I can no longer play it as though it had "full controller support" is not a good thing to ignore. I would consider it shameful behavior, even among vulture-like corporate behaviors, to consider introducing issues to someone's game to be worth leaving for months on end. Fix this issue please.

What do you mean plug your mouse back in? What kind of PC you have if there is not enough ports for mouse+keyboard and controller to be connected at the same time?

Also I'm using XBOX360 controller as well and I do not have any issues in SRW 30.
I even swapped button mapping for B to select/confirm and A to cancel and both the game and controller work the way it should.

The issue have to be somewhere else, not within the game or one of it's update.

Right, so first point, I had to "Frankenstein" my controller back to some semblance of functionality, which required me to specifically turn my controller into a second keyboard+mouse device, and in the first place, I just don't enjoy using a mouse or looking at that giant cursor in SRW 30. I have three USB slots, so headphone, controller, and mouse is my typical setup if I don't have to worry about a game prioritizing the mouse moving ever so slightly, but this game will drive me mad if I move the mouse less than a centimeter.

Second, if:

The only fixed variable is that my controller is sometimes very FUBAR when:
1. I play some (though not all) of my Bandai-Namco games,
2. regardless of which controller type,
3. Steam Input works for every other one of my games, and
4. the timing coincides with a particular SRW 30 update,...

I shouldn't have to spell this out, but the game update did it. Nothing else could have done it, I have only seen it replicated in one other B-N game that no longer receives support, and which used to actually function with my controller as well.

P.S. Since you're using an XBox controller of some sort, could you please make a community user copy of the functioning setup you have and then send it to me? Your little changes match what I'd have used anyway, and I have found that overwriting community control schemes will fix this issue for other games that I would other have needed to "Frankenstein" my controller to the keyboard for. At the moment, no one has made one for community usage, and it would likely fix this issue in a heartbeat.

I'm using old XBOX 360 Wired controller, default drivers, default SRW 30 controller profile for 360 controller under steam settings with only customization to the profile being the A/B confirm/cancel swap and never had any issues. I have no idea what might cause them for you.

Salutations I recently had one of my controllers stop functioning as a xbox360-style gamepad out of nowhere. When I opened "Devices & Printers" in Windows it just said "USB Controller" or something like that.

A friend told me that if you turn the gamepad on then press & hold the Home Button for several seconds it will change how Windows sees/emulates it. After I did that it showed as a 360 type gamepad in devices and printers and worked fine.

You can't have any other gamepads plugged in, and can't have a game running for this to work from what I experienced trying this. Not sure if that's just something related to my specific gamepad or if might work for you too, but it's something you might try.

I tried that after I saw your post. Sadly, it didn't do anything.

So, the new update didn't help my situation. I still need someone, any-f'ing-one, to export their dang XBox controller configs so that it will force my controller to work properly instead of being a jerryrigged, Frankenstein's Monster of mini M&K.

I made a local controller config out of the default controls. Sent you a friend request.
