Not knowing about mecha?
I wanna buy this game, it stays in my wishlist for good months. It's now in price I can affort it, but I don't know nothing about series that are in the game. I like mecha games like front mission series or armored core, but do I need any knowledge about lore?

Not necessarily, the Super Robot Wars series usually does a pretty good job explaining the series, from the numerous Bios to the story itself.

Don't bother if you aren't an anime fan. SRW is a fanservice game for anime fans and an unchallenging turn based strategy / mecha game.

unless you like mech and watch some growing up as a kid, i would stay away.

Dude, I got into these animes BECAUSE of SRW. If it wasn't for SRW, I never would've known about Mazinger Z, and now because of that, after so many years, I finally understand all the Mazinger Z references I keep running into.

Seriously, SRW will introduce you to a whole new world. A wonderful world full of all kinds of fun and interesting robots and characters and whatnot. Who gives a flying motherf*ck if you're not already a fan? THIS WILL MAKE YOU A FAN.

I can echo the statement about SRW being a gateway to mecha. The only mecha I had watched before picking up SRW - with OG1 - was Pacific Rim, and... honestly, a lot of what I've watched has been a direct result of SRW. Often due to liking what I saw in SRW, and in some cases for T and 30's rosters to ensure I had more familiarity going into those two games.

I can say one thing. If you has a switch try the demo version of the game for free. If it was interesting to you then buy the game on Steam.

Personally i recommend this game to you.

The game is so easy af that you can easily 1 vs 20 in expert/super expert mode so you might want some passion for mecha anime to play this game or gameplay will get boring so fast and make you skip every animation phase just you can the game.

if you love some Gundam then you should be fine cuz this game has so many gundams and Amuro is op af in super expert mode that he can solo one-turn-end the map alone by himself . you might enjoy watching him rekt the game, and you can bench all of those 50+ robots you don't care about in hanger forever.

Wanna see you beat Super expert without singe game over, Grind, Stage Replay and New Game+.

Go back to your DS man. You are literally just trash talk against the newer games.

it's a fact that newer games are easier then the old ones. But not for a newbie.
Also without grind it can be really dangerous as super expert. You just need set your own challenges.

What? super expert gives so much exp cuz of level scaling. When I was at just stage 70 my average unit already had like 250-350 SP. and I hadn't even touched a single front mission. I've even leveled everyone, including those clone trooper gunblaster. Some units take no damage at all cuz they have so much SP to use Flash/Foresee every single battle.

You can build Amuro to one-shot kill + Zeal and build a support team around him by Resolve + Prospect + Resupply to give him a lot of extra turns, and he can wipe out every grunt on the map In one turn.and most of the bosses in this game died in turn without a chance to doing damage to you , Barbatos can even one-shot caruleum in super expert. the only thing that can kill you is a map weapon, but can easily use daunt to cancel it and you can spam it cuz you have like 3-400 sp.

there is no need to grind if you have over 30 iq to play this game,The only time I need to save scum is when Gridman or Barbatos accidentally kills the boss by critical hit cuz they are op af even if they are still under level and steals a kill from the unit need to kill the boss to unlock a secret unit. make me wish this game have downgrade units option so I don't have to restart the game and spend the next 50 hours making the game harder by reducing my brain cell when playing the game cuz if you make even one correct upgrade and your unit will become op af. it's tedious.

make me wonder if SRW:J is even harder than this game cuz at least I can't use seishin in enemy turn or once units become grey in that game

Did you start super expert from the begining? Of course it's not challenging if you already has over leveled unit. i has Sakura Equiped with each skill. She easly kill anyone. Yea i know that you can make a unit like that.

Start a new game in super expert without new game+ and try to do a no dead run. You understand what about i talk if you do that.

well super expert is easier then expert.
in super expert u get like 20 lvls each mission starting from the prologue already.
