Do I sense a fellow XCOM Commamder on this discussion?
Instead of just having the player's main character as one of the grunts that just sorties into battle, how about the MC ACTUALLY being the Commander of an Allied Ship? I know I could be a better captain than Mitsuba as she's absolutely garbage at it.
You should give Phoenix Point a go then.
I omitted various series since I know those series are staples of the SRW brand, so I know that they will make it in. Also, having bases doesn't make sense in SRW, since you are meant to travel around to different locations, while occasionally returning to the main base. Characters have to travel around for story reasons.
Having a the main character in a battleship instead of a mecha will limit the amount of battle that they can participate in, since a battleship is a support unit instead of a frontline unit, sure the Iron Gear or the SDF-1 can transform, but it still doesn't change the fact that they are mainly meant for support and not a frontline unit. Also, battleship attacks are rarely as flashy as opposed to if the main character pilot a mecha. From a narrative standpoints, it make sense that the main character pilot a mech, since the rival also pilot a mech. And at some point in the game, the main character and their rival will have a one on one fight and having two mech fighting each other just looks better.
In New Game +, you get a fraction of the total amount of endgame money when starting, but upgrades are reset. The only game that I know of that carry over the upgrades, at least the one in my collection is SRW W for the DS.
The feature that I want them to bring back is the Bazaar where you can buy Option Parts and sometime, grunt units. I also want them to bring back the Final Dynamic Special combination attacks in future game.
Take for example the Nadesico B, and C, from SRW V. I utilize the strategy with it all the time, moreso during "Kill all enemies under X number of turns" missions. Battleships with Map attacks are so awesome when used with the strategy. Give the Battleship Main Pilot the "Hit and Run" skill and let enemies come to your map attack's range. Fire at 'em, then move to a different location and let your mechs finish the job.
Battleships WITHOUT Map Attacks kinda suck though, moreso if its Pilot doesn't have the Commander skill.
I'd also like them to bring back the Bazaar as a way to obtain rarer mechs.
Two other features I'd like them to re-implement are the "Twin" system, as seen on SRW OGs on the PS2 and the "Group of four Mechs as one unit" mechanic from SRW Alpha 2, or was it 3?. As well as Ammunition crafting.
By mobile sortie, do you mean docking units into the battleship, moving the battleship and then redeploying the units? If so, then I never use it, since I don't see a need to, and doing so lower the Will of all units in the battleship when you redeploy them.
Speaking of Nadesico, next time that Prince of Darkness get use, please bring back this unit:

Something minor that I want them to bring back is the static/white noise animation that gets played over the pilot portrait when their unit gets destroyed. Also, bring back the constanly decreasing HPs for when a unit used an attack with a long animation.
Yes, please and thank you.
That was my first anime (not technically, but when I I was old enough to know what it was) and the reason I first bought Super Robot Wars J, the first SRW game I played.
I am perfectly fine with Macross and Go-Lion, my REAL first anime. Go-Lion in particular if the game comes out in English would be most welcome.
Macross II and Macross Plus are most welcome. I don't need a revisit of anything after that at this time. At the very least NOT 7...
