They both scratch a different itch.
Asking whether one is better than the other, is asking to compare apples and oranges.

Some of Crossray's DLC Mechs AREN'T even playable units in the sense that they aren't units you use in combat as they're only available as offline nonplayer cobtrolled missions.

There are more Gundam series represented there too, if that matters more to you.
There are better SD Gundam games than crossrays

I do like gundam though. It's an alternative to virtual on.

What units are you talking about?
All the DLC-units for Crossrays, including the ones from the expansion-pack *are* playable. Can be earned via dispatch, and doing stuff with them in the field will unlock them for purchase as well.

No, neither is better than the other. If you like gundam get the other game. If you like the SRW verse you get this game. They aren't that similar.

I personally prefer Cross Rays. While the gameplay is similar, they are pretty different in other major ways. Cross Rays gives you more control, but sticks to cannon stories. SRW is linear and gives you less control, but offers a unique story that hasn't been seen. Gundams in CR feel more like their anime and manga counterparts, especially around beam vs physical mechanics. Cross Rays is also less tedious in unlocking everything; you don't need to consort a wiki every mission around missing a 'secret' that only unlocks if X pilot has Y kills, because if you miss a secret, you have to replay the entire game to get to play the mission again.

Missions:
Cross Rays: Once you unlock story missions, you can play them whenever you want again and you can play in any series order you'd like. Want to play a story mission of 00 followed by a story mission of Wing? You can.
SRW: Once you play a story mission, that's it... you can't play it whenever unless you new game+ and get to that point again.

Mecha:
Cross Rays: You unlock via Quests, and devolving, side-volving, and evolving units. And you can field as many units of that type as you like. Want to field 8 Gundam Wing Virgos? You can.

SRW: Some mecha are unlocked via Quests, secret or otherwise and progressing through the story. Which means it can be painful if you miss secret ones due to how missions work. Also, on new playthroughs story unlocked units become locked. Unlock unit X on mission 14? Remains locked on new game+ until you get to mission 14 again. You can only field 1 of each unit. Example: You can only field 1 Gridman, and it has to be the version that's part of that particular part of the story. Can't play endgame Gridman halfway through.

Crossrays has amazing mech and pilot tweaking and the raid/ship system is amazing with lots of mech and ship options. Every single thing else about the game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and some of the laziest garbage they've ever put to code.

Omg, your intel was very helpful. I can't believe that SRW's would require you to play the whole dang thing again just to do one mission again. And it's sad that you can't even do multiple units of the same kind. This is so annoying. I am so glad that I have Crossrays. Maybe I will just end up waiting for a bigger sale before maybe buying this. As you say. This sounds like a tedious game.

Shame.

The reason you can't sortie multiple units of the same kind in SRW games is because each one are unique mechs, unless they are Mass Produced units like Zakus, Gun Edges or Gunblasters. Or, in some rare cases like the Getter Robos here on SRW 30 are different units from different dimensions.

Oh and this franchise is older than Crossrays and has some very dedicated albeit, niche fanbase.

This game is actually way less tedious than Crossrays, Crossrays mission design is *awful* and there no story other than mindlessly recreating chunks of the animes.

Don't get me wrong, I do plan on getting it sometime. I know the franchise is old and I see and understand the sense in not bringing in multiple units of the same in a mission. I personally wouldn't and I'd find that rather boring. :Chado:

I do wonder how long the sale will last though they didn't give a end date I find that odd.

I just wish that we could choose missions. I did thoroughly enjoy cross rays and I disagree about it being mindless and awful I rather enjoyed it and that's okay, to each his/her own

I do wish that we could own the Gundam version game of the UC era though...
Here on SRW 30 you DO choose which missions you do and in what order, albeit there are some missions that are prerequisites and need to be completed to further the story.
