Outlaw Star for Future installment of SRW
I'd really like the crew of the XGP to show up in SRW how do they decide which series get in?

It's mostly by popularity in Japan (and if Sunrise owns the license. Sunrise mecha shows always get in since they're a lot cheaper.)

Outlaw Star sadly is unlikely though. It wasn't ever huge in Japan and mostly has a western fanbase due to Cartoon Network.

Never watch it, but I think it would fit more than Cowboy Bebop.
Bebop was just a wtf inclusion.

Outlaw Star would be a better fit than Bebop. Which is not to say that Bebop couldn't have worked in SRW T - it could, if it wasn't shoehorned in the way it was.

Here's a "curveball" possibility: Transformers. I mean, come on! They're literally sentient giant robots than can transform into various vehicles! They'd fit into SRW perfectly! They could probably even fit a battle against Galvatron & Unicron into the game as well.

Another "curveball" option could be Xenosaga. Because Xenosaga has the A.G.W.S. units, the A.M.W.S. units, and the E.S. units. And then you have the Gnosis that could easily function thas the main enemy from that franchise, considering their quasi-Kaiju status (they're not nearly as big as actual Kaiju, but they're still very deadly and dangerous).

While I would LOVE Transformers I expect the rights would cost way to much.

Xenosaga would be sweet, plus they have done crossovers with them already. Kos-Mos technically is already in.

I've never seen Outlaw Star. But similarly I think Captain Taylor could be worked in like Nadia or (real) Cowboy Bebop was.

Plus, Xenosaga's mechs look pretty awesome. And let's be honest, SRW's helped fix more confusing plots and the like.

Outlaw Star might as well be a mecha series, really. Grapple ships, like the Outlaw Star, have arms and fight with hand-held guns, swords, axes, etc., so it would fit in pretty well.

Also, the Outlaw Star anime was produced by Sunrise, so it's always struck me as odd that it hasn't been included already.

As far as popularity is concerned... I'm going to point out that Zeorymer was in SRW MX and J, which came out in 2004 and 2005. The 4-episode OVA series very loosely based on the adult manga from the early-80's finished in 1990, and the manga wouldn't see anything new till 2007, arguably thanks to the newfound awareness of the series brought on by SRW dredging it up.

Well 2 and 3's did. The ES machines or whatever were ok.

On that note, if SRW DID use Xenosaga, where would they start from?

Outlaw Star would be quite interesting and Grapple Ships are basically just very large mobile armors given the way they fight so you would think it would fit better than Bebop and Yamato. So yes it would be nice, but I don't really expect it. Though on the plus side for the devs it would be a series where they could go light on assests. The main cast is one unit and if they went basic enough they could go with one generic grapple ship enemy and then the bosses for the series. Could even be a good DLC option due to that reason.

Captain Taylor would be hilarious, I can just imagine everyone arguing about whether a particular maneuver was planned or just plain luck. That said the Soyokaze isn't a particularly impressive vessel so it would likely be a middling ship(but I love Reinforce Jr. so I don't mind if a ship isn't completely op and given the marines and such the Soyokaze would be a viable candidate for a post move battleship so it can have a niche). But a strong enough pilot can make even a mediocre unit strong.

Probably right in 3.

Any reason why 3 in particular?

Its the ending. A lot of series in SRW come in near the ending. And it also has a start up plot, from what I remember.
1 has no real resolution. 2 didn't either. It's too much to expect all 3, probably.

Also note which version of Kos-Mos (who needs cleaning) was represented in spin offs.
