Anyway, I don't think that Harmony Gold's ownership of certain rights prevents Macross from being in a SRW game. It just prevents that SRW game from being sold in the U.S (I think). Also, I think Harmony Gold only owns the rights to the first Macross series.
Macross Frontier units were in many previous games (as recently as Z3), so there is evidently some legal way to include the later series in SRW.
Not a fan but possible as they seemed to have worked out the rights issue.

As such, even if bandai wanted to feature it in srw, they might not be able to "afford" to do so unless they raise the price of the game. Imagine having to pay 100 usd for a standard version just to feature macross :/
