Any chances to see Macross Delta in future games?

Harmony Gold already renewed their copyright on Robotech(a mashed up between Macross, Mospaeda and Southern Cross) so I think we won't get to see Macross on SRW games for decades.

I had thought that this legal issue was resolved but I'm not up to date on the latest news.

Anyway, I don't think that Harmony Gold's ownership of certain rights prevents Macross from being in a SRW game. It just prevents that SRW game from being sold in the U.S (I think). Also, I think Harmony Gold only owns the rights to the first Macross series.

Macross Frontier units were in many previous games (as recently as Z3), so there is evidently some legal way to include the later series in SRW.

In the past Japan is their only target audience so they have no issues including Macross, since they don't release the game overseas. But now since they intend to sell it overseas, I think the probability of having Macross in future game is slim since they will likely want to avoid the hassle dealing with Harmony Gold.

The legal issues that were "resolved" pertained to the distribution of macross films. However, that does not mean HG has lost the rights to the series or that it will somehow stop them for asking for exorbitant sums of money to feature it.

An “expansive agreement” between Big West, Studio Nue, and Harmony Gold will allow immediate international distribution of “most Macross television sequels and films.” It also affirms Harmony Gold’s rights to the Robotech franchise. Going forward, Big West and Harmony Gold will both cooperate on the international distribution of future Macross and Robotech projects post 2021.

As such, even if bandai wanted to feature it in srw, they might not be able to "afford" to do so unless they raise the price of the game. Imagine having to pay 100 usd for a standard version just to feature macross :/

Based on the context in the writing including both comments from both CEOs it is unlikely they would continue to do so, they're cooperating now.
