Controller or KB/mouse
Hello Everyone. Just curious. This is my first time playing SRW on PC so am wondering how it plays with kb/mouse instead of console controllers, is it better? I have always played the previous titles on playstation consoles.

Also will an xbox type of controller work with this pc version or will I need a specific controller plugged into my PC? Thanks

These games are designed with controllers in mind. I never played the other two that were released on Steam because they were region-locked exclusively to SEA regions, but I think you could only use the keyboard if you didn't have a controller for those and that just seems a bit clunky compared to just holding a controller. You can typically use ANY AND ALL controllers on any steam game. The only ones that will always have full compatibility are Xbox Controllers, though. I personally just use a X360 Rock Candy controller myself, which I got for about $25 a few years ago.

ok cool. I still have an old xbox controller that I plug to my PC when I played street fighter here on steam haha.

Btw isn't today supposed to be the release of DLC2 preview or PV3?

I'm not sure what all it is covering, but yes, PV3 is supposed to be today, October 25.

The show featuring PV3 will be in 4 hours from now here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzWIiTnxobI

And I played V and X on Steam with DS4.

I haven't played the others on PC either, but I briefly tried a similar one like SD Gundam G, and it worked perfectly well with KB/M... so much so that i made an experiment with SRW A Portable on PPSSPP, to remap mouse movement to the D-PAD and clicks to X/O, and with a bit of tinkering it also plays nicely enough, even if you don't have a screen cursor obviously

Being that this is an actual PC port, the dialog exposition parts clearly won't have any problem with the mouse, and as for the combat sections, being a turn based, grid layout and "menu heavy" style of game, I'm pretty sure it will adapt just nice

You could actually use the mouse in those games and I would say it was pretty comfortable. So using a controller shouldn't be necessary in the new game.

I own the other two on Steam and yes, definitely made for gamepad.
You COULD use the mouse but i found it clunky and not very comfortable.
They are cleary made with pad controls in mind.

i play both X and V.. and i use controller and KB/Mouse.. to be honest, i more comfortable using controller.. Maybe because you can point exactly you want with controller. When i use mouse, to many place i dont want select become highlight.

I've played both V and X with a mouse. At first I was a little lost (20+ SRW games played with a controller), but it becomes second nature after a while. The only thing that may be irritating is that sometimes when you call the menu (right click) it folds back into the corner really quick because you double-clicked.
Other than that, there are no downsides.

I think the better question is how did the Switch Super Robot Wars games fared with touch controls? Asking cuz I was able to play G Generation Cross Rays somewhat comfortably with mouse controls, though I am fully aware that G Generation and SRW are from two completely different studios.

Super Robot Wars DD an iOS/Android works fine with touch controls.
Other game doesn't support touchscreen natively.

I play it on a Nintendo Switch compatible controller on my PC. Works just fine.
The only problem with it is SRW X, I couldn't get it to work.

One could jokingly argue that mouse is a classic way to play.
The SNES games supported the SNES mouse, believe it or not!
(But yeah, use whatever you like, honestly. Even keyboard works fine as long as you figure out the best bindings for you.)
