Roll ball with palm up?
So this feels like I’m bowling with a wii remote or a joystick. I have to grip and swing as if holding a steering wheel at 3 o clock with my right hand.

I’d like an option to have my palm up, so the index remote is more horizontal. Unfortunately this producing “whiffle ball” throws.

Is there an adjustment to be made here or do you have to alter your throw/grip to suit the game?

I bowl with my palm up with no problem. The hand should be under the ball at release. There is a ball hand offset slider in the VR options menu that could help you.

One thing to keep in mind is that you do not feel the weight of the ball like in real life bowling. This can make it hard to get the right grip. I struggled with this big time when I first started playing this game and only with lots of practice did I finally get the correct grip .
Once you master the grip, you will find it much easier to control your throw and convert spares. I am on a roll converting splits recently converting 22 of the last 69 splits

Are you using Valve Index controllers?

I'll have to experiment some more. The grip timing would make sense in that if I'm too early it should produce the "whiffle ball" issue I'm having. Good to know it's possible though. It's just weird that the issue disappears when I bowl with my palm at a right angle if it's a timing issue.

Yes I am using Valve Index controllers and the Valve Index headset. Make sure when making your throw to keep a pendulum like arm motion. This can be difficult to repeat consistently at least at first because we do not feel the weight of the ball in VR. I have a large room scale space 3X3 meters which allows me to take a few steps when making my throw. When I first started playing this game I would step on the tether and this would disrupt my throw so I purchased a tether management system to keep the tether out of my way.

I jumped in again and focused on the grip/release and had a much better time. Thanks for the feedback.
