Should I buy this remaster or stay with the original version?
How is this remaster?
Did it introduce new problems? are there any Imrprovmants over the original that can't be achieved with mods?
Thanks

There's no StarForce to worry about, thus you'll actually be able to play this version. XD

I'm evaluating purchasing this myself as I own the original DRM-free and this is what I found: It's got better graphics (lighting and textures) based off the original assets and several people sharing comparison screenshots. The textures fit perfectly in HD based on users' screenshot comparisons - these textures are the highest quality possible from the source with enhancements. It also has actively supported compatibility with modern systems. Some reviews seem to point to the HUD stretching on some resolutions and mouse acceleration (which was an issue on the original apparently) to be fixed here. So far, this seems like a worthwhile version to buy, could use some patches, probably better to play with a controller.

This is not true. It was supposed to be that way, but they couldnt do it, because the game cant handle more than 2GB VRAM, so the texture quality actually had to be reduce, in order to stop the game from crashing. It still runs on same old 32bit engine, which was not updated to 64bit.

It's compatible with current versions of Windows 10 and 7 at the time of release. Nothing else is supported and no patch has been released since, nor is there any talk about it. HUD will not be fixed, mouse issues will not be fixed, game will stay in 32bit mode only, it still runs on directX8. This is not something that should be considered 'actively supported'.

Crystal, you're just trying to reinforce your opinion so people don't buy the remaster. Nobody is denying the remaster has issues but the OP is asking for opinions. You've made your points and I've made mine. I disagree with many of your points based on the evidence presented by other users, some very strange hand-picked issues like only Windows 7 and 10 being supported (what else were you hoping for?) and inconsistent claims (textures had to be somewhat downgraded from the absolute best due to engine limitations ok although you don't present any evidence to support that, even then it still means this is the best that can be loaded in reasonably at this point and they still look great). Let the OP decide based on a variety of viewpoints instead of attacking all opinions contrary to your own.

I mean...it is not reboot or anything...just a remaster...slightly better textures :) I got it just to have it on steam as a reminder that I've played it on my old PC
