Game quite demanding on CPU resources?

So I've played this game for years, getting used to the same patterns, i.e the game freezes on a blank window for a couple minutes after I choose play on the launcher, the fans run hot after a longer session (60-90 min), but I've taken a break. I just got back to this, and now this issue has happened on two separate occasions so I know it's caused by this. I would play this with either a youtube video or music playing in the back. However nowadays, if I have a single Chrome tab playing a youtube video and I launch this game, my computer BSODs. Has anyone here had issues with crashes involving this game?

Do you play with vsync on? If not I'd highly recommend you turn this setting on in the launch window.
