VNs are already a hugely niche genre of games, I think basing whether or not to translate and release it based on sales is kind of a mistake as the release of Summer Pockets on Steam is after the fact that Reflection Blue is in the works. Personally, I'd buy Summer Pockets twice, but I know plenty of VN, and even KEY fans that wouldn't. My biggest fear as a fan of VNs is NOT having the option to financially support a studio I love, so I guess I'm just a fanatic in that regard.
What I've always felt what needed to happen was a PR move early on where they would confirm if or when we get Reflection Blue, it will be a an expansion pack for the original on steam, rather than a fully featured separate game. But I'm wondering if they have the time or budget to recode it that way.
Anyhow, I bought the game with he assumption that it will at least take 2 years to get Reflection Blue, assuming we are getting it. Also, usually when a new game that contains an updated version of an old game gets released on steam, there is a discount for owners of the old version, which would effectively price it as an expansion pack even if they are unable to code it as one.
My biggest concern is this, i remember when SP released and everyone was throwing a fit on the net about waiting until RB releases and complaining it wont come with RB (despite RB not being out at the time).
Point being, if many of these really did hold of getting it, they could of affected our odds of even seeing it at all.
Tis a shame,i get people want a complete edition but they missed out on a good game and potentially halted the odds of getting it's expansion... which in a round about way then makes their initial "protest" pointless as the game wont come then.
With Little Buster EX, at least, upon loading up the game it asks you if you want to set a clear flag for the main story so you can go straight to the new content.
I hope it works out for you.
