How to configure game for Joystick Use

Does anyone know how to get this game to recognize a joystick? It'll recognize button presses, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get it to recognize the stick itself for pitch/yaw and throttle lever for well, throttle.

You have to configured the joystick and bind it inside the Keybinding and control binding menu. Press the button u want to register your control then bind the joystick movement. It usually will automatically register your axis, you can inverted the axis if you desired.

Works for me for the HOTAS 4

My entire issue is that it isn't registering axis or the throttle lever.

The problem is that it doesn't have any defaults and doesn't let me navigate the menus with the joystick.
I just configured my Saitek X52 Pro, both throttle and pitch/yaw and other axis works, although they are inverted wrong.

there is an invert button next to the mapping, just uncheck that.

For the rest of you, just navigate with your mouse and click with your mouse on the binding, then do the binding with the joystick and it's bound.

The primary issue is that doing this pressing any buttons on the joystick does nothing as the joystick is not recognized

it means you have to set up which button does what, which isn't terribly hard. go into options -> controls and you can set up your keybinds from the keybinds tab. just select the function and then press the button on the joystick you want that function to be assigned to. for pitch/yaw/roll/thrust it's the same but it will be under axis tab instead. Also if you've purchased a HOTAS, there's always going to be a little work in getting it setup for a game. even if the game does come with preset binds, you'll likely have to go into the bind settings anyway to see which button does exactly what.

Sorry to hear that :[ I was honestly impressed that it recognized my stick, but I still had to manually map everything. Only did it once, and remember it was tricky to do, but it does work, its just a matter of understanding how the menu functions. I only did it once cuz im waiting for some mounting materials, otherwise i would try to walk you through it more, but I refuse to login because I will want to play >_< Is it possible you need to download the latest drivers? good luck

Thank you. I am a retired Naval Aviator and a 757/767 United Air Lines Captain, and I'm just getting into these Aviation games. I am not stupid, but Joysticks and Hotas are not user friendly or intuitive--I wish they were more plug-and-play. Maybe I am spoiled but the simulators that I have flown in the military and at United Air Lines!. My goal is to eventually get into DCS games.

Another dumb question--do you have to "bind" your Joystck for each individual game? My Joystick works on one only one game and not the others, so I assume that you must do it for each game.

Yes, in almost all the flight games I've played so far, I had to set the joystick first. Only in Ace combat 7 is the preset control for t16000m HOTAS, but even there I adjusted it to my preferences.

My pitch and view controls seem to be linked, all the other bindings seem so work fine, but when I attempt to pitch up, it just looks up, meaning in the first mission I just crash into the sea after a few seconds. Is there a way to disable the "view" setting and maybe bind it to my mouse rather than the stick and just use the stick for pitch and roll?
