New planes worse than old?

Are there some stats for planes that aren't displayed in the hangar or something? It feel like most new plane aren't really better than older model.

I got the Mg-29 now and most new plane that have shown up are about as good or worse than it. The Sk.27 has worse stats in every category except for slightly better response and yaw. It also has one less hardpoint and worse special selection. Yet it cost twice as much. Am I missing something?

Not really missing anything, MG-29 is stellar. If you like it's loadout options, it's a great jet to ride to the top tier.

Hardpoints can be a hidden advantage. Flanker B has four hardpoints for its second weapon, so in the end it shoots as many MLAA as Fulcrum does even with one less weapon slot. Except that means it has less ammo and the stats are worse like you said, so it's still not an upgrade.
At least the ACTIVE is good when you unlock that.

Early to mid, Mig-29 will carry you for multi-target and air-to-ground (i didn't recommend air to ground planes like Su-25 because the air defense are pretty merciless and air to ground planes often has mobility issues), with the occasional F-14 for the air-to-air, until you got F/S-15 (not F/C-15, it's loadout were trash) which will carry you to end-game.

Su-25 is a glorious beast for most of the campaign outside pure air to air battles.
