How playable is this with Mouse and Keyboard?

Just as the title suggest. If it isn't is it better to play with a controller or what setup should I/ do I need to use?

It is playable yes. I tried for an hour or so to use a KB and Mouse. It's far , far better with simple controller with analog sticks.

I'd recommend a cheap XBox 360 controller - I've got a 3rd party wired one for £20 that has lasted me six or so years now (outlived both my 360's lmao). I use it for both racing games and arcade flight games. You could use a HOTAS for this, but IMHO it's not worth the hassle for the more arcadey games.

Very doable - I played originally with just keyboard but now using kb and mouse

If you've ever played War Thunder arcade mode for any period of time, the flight "feedback" (I guess?) for mouse aim is going to be very similar. Granted I can never get used to a controller for flight games, and don't have space for a HOTAS setup, so M/KB have been excellent for me :)
