What plane carried you to victory?
I ended up beating the game a while ago and have had a lot of fun with it, but when going through the community hub I remembered my first play through. I was left feeling fond about the memory of my first victory against Crimson. So, I got curious and wanted to know what aircraft delivered victory to the community.

What mount brought you to your first victory, and how did it happen?

My first win was in a Su-25 Frogfoot. I admit it's really not the most glorious stead, but I had brought it for mission 20 and didn't think that I would be fighting the boss. As suck I was mushy brained and only really planned to decimate the ground targets and airships. I ended up panicking when Crimson arrived having realized that I was loaded with ATGMs and ASMs. The fight was more of a bullet hell than a traditional dogfight. Turns out that the Frogfoot is a surprisingly good for keeping behind the enemy given the good turning capabilities, as well as the low stall and flight speeds causing the super-plane to overshoot my plane. I get a good chuckle from the memory due to the idea that I beat the first boss due to the fight being designed for high spec combat. It also helps that I ran out of missiles and killed him with the main gun.

I was almost opposite of ya! I used the F-14 and kept my speed up, trying to dodge as much as possible. Playing on hard definitely gave me a run for my money, since I finished with 13 HP. That secondary part of the fight was very tense, as I was below 25% the entire time. All around, I think having the presence of Prez in the WSO seat gave me the motive to defeat Crimson :)

F-14 on normal, mostly with HISMs and UGBS-3s

Not buying anything, T-21 only, Hard difficulty.

Mercenary coming soon with T/F-4.
(not)f-14 on hard; once I discovered you could just hook on all the multilock areal missiles you wanted, I was in love. Played it to hear the prez dialogue on top of that.

Cool , but Mercenary have 2x - 3x more enemies so i think you will go out of ammo with T/F-4 in some missions.

Started on easy cause I wanted to chill, with my closest brush with losing fairly (without crashing) being the midpoint mission where we shoot up oil rigs and fight one of the prototype planes at night, the one with railguns and all that dakka, that fight being done in one shot with the F-15 with only a sliver of health in the single-digit range.

Anyway, final mission I had by that time sold off most if not all my planes in order to afford the Chimera, was tricky as this was before the nerf update of the boss fight so there was death balls and so many missiles to go around. The fight itself was challenging and okay, but the dialogue is just dumb. The bad kind of dumb where it isn't fun, just dumb. Not really that satisfying.

Chimera good plane tho, love spamming AGMs with it.

The F-14, I couldnt stand going without Prez to be completely honest.

I would go with some challenges with only 3 modifiers that looks sane to me: Camouflage, Cordium Interference, and Ace Training. That would be something, I suppose, and I'm really up to it to show people that "you can win the game even with only a crappy jet/weapon or the jet/weapon that you own at your disposal AND without buying anything."

Still, I would like to have a lil' mod to make the game even more balanced, but idk if that will change anything.

I watched Ace Combat Fan doing a playthrough (walkthrough) of Ace Combat 04 with only F-4E for the whole campaign. That is something I did not see everyday in a history of arcade flight game. I can link to it if you want.

Also, I did played AC7 campaign with only F-16, so I was wondering if I can beat this game with only T-21 and T/F-4 at the HIGHEST difficulty the game has to offer.

F14 is the only option.

Literally, there are no other planes in the game that I can see.

I look at the list, and all I see is Tomcat, and all I hear is Kenny Loggins, and all I feel is Prez's hot breath on the back of my neck.

The MiG-29S (MG-29 in-game) is surprisingly versatile, but the F-4E I found amazing for air-to-ground missions with the HGPs.

Like most other ppl here, F14 for me. I later fell in love with the FS-15 but didn't want to leave prez behind. Luckily there's a mod that puts prez in every plane :P

MiG-31, speed is my lord and saviour.
>Enemy spawns a fair distance away
>Slow down to a snail's pace
>Fire Semi Actives
>They hit
>Max the throttle
>Give prez whiplash
>ATTAIN S P E E D
>Use standards once in range, poppin off flares should the enemy get a missile off
>Blast past my enemy at mach 2
>They desperately try to turn to face me but by the time they do, I'm already 10ks away

Dogfighting is for people with reaction times and skill. Me? I got two massive jets, the world's best phased array radar and good company to boot. Crimson can't kill what they can't catch.

As soon as I could, I unlocked the F14 and that got me until I could unlock the FS15, which I used exclusively until I could unlock everything else

Initially, The SAAB Viggen for multirole, and the Su-25 for mud moving. I begrudgingly replaced them both with the Mig-29 because of it's versatility, and grabbed the Su-27 for the same reason, but primarily for air superiority (it absolutely minces Federation F-14s/15s/16s without breaking a sweat!).

Once I got the Chimera, however, I haven't looked back. It's SO effective and efficient at air to air and air to ground roles, it's an order of magnitude more capable than anything else so far (still haven't completed the game yet, been taking my time, so I haven't got the PW, VX-23 or the SP-34 yet).

I've been splitting my time between the campaign and conquest and realised early on that the F-15S/MTD (or the faux-Su-37, but mostly the MTD) was pretty much my go-to ride for conquest simply for it's payload and versatility as it does everything well, but yeah, the Chimera does what the MTD does, just better in every conceivable way!
