Briefing & in-game dialog/radio.
A mix of briefings and in game voicelines are how the story is told. It feels very natural.
There are also optional "files" that are unlocked as you progress through the campaign. you can read them to learn even more about the characters and the world that are not explicitly stated during gameplay
Word to the wise, the characters are very interesting and the dialogue is well written but this game can be very hectic as an arcade flight sim and action is generally n-stop so I recommend playing on a lower difficulty to best enjoy the story
Yes. Few games are able to reach that level of storytelling.
Thats no problem, i played Ace Combat on japanese with english subtitles and could follow the story well enough. My secret is failing at missions. Repeating same dialogue comes naturally.
