To the Deadside Community and Developers 1.3 update
To the deadside community and Developers

I want to take a moment to share my thoughts and, I believe, the thoughts of many players on the recent update to Deadside. The game has always stood out to us because it was so wonderfully different from other survival games like DayZ and Rust. The stunning graphics, the wide variety of weapons, the consistent and engaging missions—it was all so perfectly balanced. But with this new update, I feel like some of that magic has been lost, and I’d love to start a conversation about how we, as a community, can bring it back.

### Key Concerns:
1. **AI Difficulty**: The increase in AI difficulty has created significant challenges, especially for solo players. Do we really want to make it harder for individual players to thrive in this game? Shouldn't the balance remain inclusive to all playstyles?

2. **Loot Reduction**: The loot system now provides far less than it used to, leaving players disengaged and demotivated. Was this change necessary? How does limiting loot contribute to a better player experience? Could we revisit this to bring back the joy of exploration and reward?

3. **Assault Ladders**: While innovation is appreciated, the introduction of assault ladders has been incredibly intrusive to many players. Imagine the frustration of dedicating hours to building and fortifying a base, only to have it breached in an instant. Is this feature promoting fair gameplay, or is it driving players away?

4. **Nail Removal from Traders**: The removal of nails from traders has made base-building a far greater struggle. Players who are already struggling to rebuild now find it nearly impossible. Could we restore this aspect to make base-building accessible again?

5. **Twig Base Health**: Many players didn't have an issue with twig base health before, yet now it seems excessively fragile. Why was this change implemented? Wasn't the previous system already well-balanced?

### Final Thoughts:
I’m sharing this because I’ve seen firsthand how many of my friends—players who once loved this game—have become frustrated and disheartened by the recent changes. Deadside was special because it felt different, refreshing, and rewarding in all the right ways. But these new changes feel like a step backwards.

While we all appreciate new features and updates that enhance gameplay, such as concrete base tiers, it’s equally important to preserve what made the game great in the first place. Can we find a way to bring back the balance we loved while keeping the positive innovations?

Let’s open up this discussion, and I invite others in the community to share their thoughts as well. Together, we can ensure Deadside continues to be the incredible game we all fell in love with.

i just want to able to raise and lower my weapon again... the old loot was way better. the act of looting all the AI corpse from a mission is pointless. the loot and where you find it is way to specific, making it boring,,, IMO all they needed to do was take out the Christmas stuff. the last few updates are beat for sure. we need to be able to mod asap.
Really? why did the devs stop people being able to make super fast easy raid bases? or some a base outside of somewhere just to farm?
1k hp was dumb, logs and rope isn't hard to get.
My biggest gripe is still the HORRENDOUS AI spawns. It has become absolutely annoying driving up to a hangar or barrack, getting out of your vehicle, waiting a moment and then stepping inside to suddenly be surrounded by military AI ripping you apart instantly. I avoid the annoying spawns on the roads that spawn in front of you constantly but the ones inside the buildings just destroys the game. Why even have binos if you can't scout out a POI before you go in?
The AI spawns and the busted up weapons are a fun killer.

Collecting guns to make one that works gets boring fast and I too don't even bother checking the bodies from missions anymore, the reward from the mission is barely worth bothering with as well.
The resources need adjustment they are horrible. I added on my base yesterday and what I added I upgraded to plank. Before that my sheet metal resources were about 570 a day. After I upgraded to PLANK my sheet metal skyrocketed to over a 1k. Can't understand that since I only upgraded to plank

1 - Ai has become significantly easier by default. I remember the days when they didn't fire in all different directions, like watching fireworks. This level of AI is incredibly easy. I don't understand you frustration with them. I personally believe they need to be harder generally.

2 - I think re-balancing high tier loot to be harder to acquire outside of high/epic missions and convoys to be a smart decision. It extends the player progression and forces players to engage in end game content to get good loot. Early game should be about low tier weapons and armor.

3 - Assault ladders are fine. It adds complexity to the raiding system. You need to adapt your base design to make it harder for top-down raiders.

4 - Nails being removed doesn't matter to me. You have to go out of your base or safe zone in order to get base materials? Why is that a problem? You're not one of those people who just want to sit inside your base and roof camp all day, are you?

5 - I don't understand your issue with twig health. Twig isn't meant to be end game base material. It's meant to act as a physical blueprint for your base. This makes it easy for you to destroy your own structures after 15 minutes, if you've made a mistake. You need to upgrade.

None of these issues should have broken your interest in the game. These complaints are non-issues IMO.

This is also probably my biggest issue with the game. They need to spawn much further away and never spawn if you are in the area. I don't understand why they haven't fixed it yet. They must be experiencing the same thing in testing.

Maybe they can't fix it?
