Base comfort and house icon
Where do you see the comfort level of your base?

And what does the house icon at the bottom of the screen mean? It fluctuates a lot and the number changes,

Cheers.

The house icon is the comfort. It depends on what you are standing that's why it moves around a lot.

Comfort is supposed to give you a buff of some kind for an hour. But the game doesn't actually tell you how long you need to stand in your base to get that buff, or what the buff actually is. The number moves around because each item has a radius of effectiveness. If you move out of that radius, the number drops.

I pulled this off of a random post on STEAMDB..

Level 1 (0-20%) +15% Satiety
Level 2 (20-40%) +6 Regeneration per minute
Level 3 (40-60%) +10% Healing Effectiveness
Level 4 (60-80%) +10% Run Speed
Level 5 (80-100%) +10 Max Health High

Comfort bonus levels can provide a substantial boost to your character, especially when combined with our new foraging tinctures. For example, with the green tincture and level 5 comfort, you can get up to 130HP!

When you hover over an item in your inventory (food, water, meds, etc), it shows the total effectiveness when used, including the comfort buff if active. The white bar is the default value, if you have any activated comfort level, then it effectively adds a boost of a few points to the total, noted by the green bar.
