We asked for dedicated server files 2 years ago and you said they wont be released for a long time. Define long time?
Until we get an option to host servers ourselves, your game is dead in the water, despite all updates. We want to choose the hardware to run the servers ourselves, or be able to run the game server at home.
Put some time into developing a solution to this, since your development of the game will inevitably slow down after 1.0

Agree 100%, THIS IS THE #1 Reason i DONT Recommend the game to friends that ask.

Also i Wont play the game until they add server files. Im right there with ya @r4

Or let your game die, i have personally stopped about 30ish people from Buying it once i tell them its a Online only, and if u want a server for 2 or 4 people u gotta pay a 3rd party. Then they simply did not buy the game.

Im personally Tired of games like this FORCING you to pay a 3rd party to host a server. Its a Scummy Thing to do and its a slap in the face for people who bought the game.

Go look at Valhiem, Palworld Ect... that release server files Day #1 [ Spoiler ] THEY BLEW UP with player count.

Rant over, i Agree its time [ 1.0 ] GIVE US SERVER FILES !

Why would they destroy an important part of their business? Renting a server is business, it's cash.

And here's the ugly truth:

We are at a point in time, where we don't own a game that we bought. If Tarkov closes the servers, if Deadside closes the servers... game gone.

It's a trend, it's the future.

Another point might be that the code is used in another game: "Duckside" - maybe that creates specific legistic circumstances?

There are only 4k concurrent players, so you can only rent servers so much. Sure they will lose a chunk of income from rentals, but not all of it. Being able to selfhost and play with friends without paying a fee for a rental server and not have any latency issues is what would spike sales of the game. Without this the game will eventually die out.
Just look at Rust - game has dedicated servers and it didn't die. Its one of the top games to play with friends to this day, people still buy it.

As for Tarkov - even if servers die, we can run our own, because community already reverse-engineered everything. You can already play solo or even with friends without any internet connection by installing few things and configuring properly. The only reason that there's no unofficial servers for Tarkov is legal action from BSG.

"I'll play a little deadside. My server is full, I guess I'll play offline. Oh wait." And do not say to go into another server. I'm to a point in my life restarting everything every night is annoying. Most decent servers full? Guess no Deadside this night. Or the next.

Just give us offline mode.

Learned of this title, saw this thread, realized no dedicated servers, and am now immediately passing on this game.

Losing customers is just that quick.

Exactly my thought. I like the premise of the game, but would not buy until there's an option to run dedicated servers or play offline.

DEDICATED SERVER FILES on SteamCMD. Thank you for being yet another person on this other than myself.
Had a server with Crap-portal, and it was horrible. now they switched hosts.

I have 2GBps/2GBps Symmetrical Fiber with a very powerful server machine with 256GB of DDR5 RAM, 32 cores, 64 threads, and all NVMe fast 7k R/W storage.

For myself and so many others, I'm sure in the thousands, there's ZERO point
of paying a crappy hosting company a dime.

I could host several of these servers with HUGE player counts, but since the devs wanna control the game after we pay for it, I'm in line with you

NO recommendations out of the over 1,000 games I own between multiple platforms, till the Dediserver files via SteamCMD are available. Cheers!

Well I asked short after EA when we can expect dedictaed server files.
So there was no clear answer, thats why i passed on this game and come only back for short revisits and if there is meanwhile a clear statement if we get dedicated server files or not.

So if you decide to hold back the server files, I'll promise that your game is dead in the water right after releasing v1.0.
I am tired of feeling forced to playing on public servers and when the game wants.
I want to play when I and my friends have time to continue.
So we'll never play on public community servers.
We tried and thought, oh nice if can host it by ourselves, but otherwise we'll left this game.

Today there are more and more people out there hosting for their own little group of fixed players (better friends), so dedicated servers are for many of them essential to choose a play for a long time with their friends.

No dedicated servers? == game is dead in a short time.

Hopefully anyone from development team would give an answer at some point, because there are people who want to buy and play the game, but lack of dedicated servers is a dealbreaker
