1.0 and still using the default 2019 UE4 graphics settings
Tried out 1.0 after not playing for a while and the new map area and new buildings look great, vehicles control well and are fun. However since 2019 the game has used the stock UE4 graphic settings presets and we can STILL not disable anti-aliasing and are forced to use FXAA and TAA. Is there any hardcoded reason for this? I would love to see 2x, 4x and 8x MSAA but even an option just to turn it off completely would be fine. Why can't we manually set these commands in usersettings.ini either? The commands already exist in Unreal Engine however we're not allowed to use them.
Surely the blurriness of Deadside must be unintentional, so why do we still have zero options to turn it off?

Tried changing AA in gameusersettings.ini and engine.ini, both seem to block the option.

nothing original in this game. assets flip.
works for epic, works for this dev, works for valve.
does it work for you?

proper aa was killed long ago. this ensemble/assembly is not going to bring it back.
just like they killed proper sound, proper physics, proper stories, ...

To be fair to the devs this update is great and vehicles handle very well not only for an Unreal Game (has limited/bad netcode in Unreal 4 for vehicles by default) and the new points of interest are all great too. Not had a chance to make a base yet but the base building looks really good as well, massive upgrade from what we had. I just don't understand how the settings are effectively unchanged since 2019, and even then the settings are the stock ones that come out of the box for UE4.

well, do you understand now?
as i said, there is global agenda, to make things backwards. and as much as i can see this product is fully conformant.
from what is advertised, this game looks like and plays like mario kart. i have not heard it, probably sounds the same too.

The game/mechanics and assets are fine I don't have an issue with that, vehicles control nicely it's similar to ARMA 2 if you've ever played that. I like Deadside but I can't stand how absurdly blurry everything is at all times. Do I really need a 4k monitor to play this game when every other game I own looks just fine? What was the thought process by forcing FXAA/TAA on at all times, and to go as far as to block the ability to turn it off in config files? Give us a button to turn it off, that's all I'm asking here.

You can manually increase the resolution scaling by editing the .ini.

C:\Users\ ***** \AppData\Local\Deadside\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

open 'GameUserSettings'

then change sg.ResolutionQuality=100 to something like 115 for a 15% increase in resolution scaling.

Devs ought to add resolution scaling into the options like it is in Squad. This game basically requires TAA to look proper, so having the increase in scaling is a huge help.

On top of the fact that most people have way better rigs now compared to when this first released int EA, but may not have a 4K monitor yet.

This helps but doesn't fully remove the blur, it just creates a sharper image that is then blurred. I had it previously set to 120% on a 1440p monitor. It absolutely does help but trees look like spongy smudges at a distance still.

Combo with a sharpening filter. Nvidia has one built in, but there are other options.

Ultimately, this game requires TAA because of how certain aspects are rendered. The game benefits from really high performance though.

So, rendered scale and sharpening filter built into the game is something I feel like they need to add to counter the side-effect of how the devs rendered the game with TAA in mind.

Started doing this and although imperfect it takes the blurry image and makes it a bit more readable even if it doesn't fix the issue. I understand that TAA is used in some graphical effects but it's not impossible to create alternatives. Seeing other threads get replies from devs/community managers while this one is ignored suggests to me that there are simply no plans for this. It's a shame but it's also the way a lot of newly released games are going.
