Instakilled.
I don't know if this was a bug, or a 'feature' honestly.

Crept up behind a convoy, sniped one guy. I was wearing a Heavy Spetsnaz helmet, and had about 80 health. One of them, a singular one, fired at me, and I was instantly dead. I was maybe 100 meters away and they were firing full-auto, and still, I died instantly.

Bug, or feature, I do not know, but all I do know if that I am done with this game for now, because that ain't fun.

A faceshot with any weapon will kill you. The convoys are quite difficult, I've heard people talk about using tripwire bombs to ambush them if they are attempting to do it solo

Even wearing an Altyn-style Heavy Spetsnaz helmet?

I can understand a visor shot, but the rest of the plate shouldn't be the same, not unless a .308 or above is being shot at it.

The boss, generally wearing a gillhii has a vsd and is super accurate

Take out the leader first with two shots from SVD. The rest of the squad are dummies. It does suck that the G36 will one shot you even in the heaviest armor (I'm not sure why this is) but as long as you approach from the back and target him first, the rest are easy to take out.

The bots having aimbot is what ruined this game for me as well, on a ****ing pve server losing all your gear due to the bots unrealistically killing everyone in 100 meters is very common. Noone honestly wants to play this game after a week or two of goin at it and just being slapped around and losing all you work over what in my opinion is a sad excuse for a combat AI besides that there is just not enough to do. Also getting fully geared offers no benefits other than storage and only creates frustrating situations where the computer will insta-kill you even though you have the heaviest armor in the game and camp your body .

^^

Last time I started playing, it was when the bunker had been released. I went through, had a moderately enjoyable time, then as I was leaving, insta-killed by a respawned bot. Couldn't get back in since I didn't have good gear, and thus, all my gear was gone just like that, and I gave up playing.

I guess maybe the devs think that 'realistically' dying instantly is better than giving people an actual chance, except unlike Tarkov, armour doesn't even save you.

Heavy helmet with faceplate protects from shots to the face, but VSD does ~90 damage, even with this protection, so you will only survive a headshot from it if you have more than 90 hp. Shot to the face without faceplate is always lethal. All helmets below heavy assault helmet don't stop vsd shots at all, so having heavy assault helmet with faceplate and over 90hp is the only way to survive a vsd headshot. Which is a lot, balance-wise, if you think about it.

Also, don't creep behind convoys. Come from the side, from above. Make a shot and retreat, so you're not on line of fire. Convoys, unlike other bots, won't rush you. In about 15 seconds they'll just forget about you and will go on as if nothing happened. This is when you make your next shot. Repeat as long as necessary.

If you read about the real-life history of those helmets, they were basically made to counter pistol rounds (especially from the front), and were only moderately successful in their design goals. The fact of the matter is that helmets simply aren't strong enough to block high-powered ammunition impacting at a right angle (or close to it). They're good at protecting from grazing/glancing shots and debris damage, though. Unfortunately the ballistics systems we have in games probably aren't complex enough yet to simulate realistic physical impact characteristics, and we still have simple pass/fail impact calculations with damage reduction percentages.

Like this scene from Saving Private Ryan is completely unrealistic because a German rifle shot from a K98 or even K98k would likely go right through both sides, or at the very least make such a big dent and warp the helmet to the point where your head is crushed anyway (00:35):

Also, there were only a few hundred of those helmets made in total if I remember correctly.

The Bots are using ESP and sometimes Aimbot - i never had the feeling that Armors and Helmets are useful to decrease incoming damage.

My problem with the more difficult bots is how they use weapons in a way that the player cannot realistically use them. For instance, the SVD convoy sniper fires in rapid fire at a rate where there is no way that the recoil would settle for each shot to be placed accurately. The G36 convoy bot being able to hit a target while spraying from 150-200 meters without optics and while moving from side to side is another problem. I like how some of the helicrash bots are very agressive and hunt you down, but they shouldn't be firing in 5 round bursts with iron-sight only RPKs and hitting you while on the move and still 200 meters away. I know the devs want to make certain activities more challenging but there must be a way to do it without simply turning the bots into supersoldiers.

This would be much better with Tarkov style AI. They yell before firing on you or miss their first shot (lately) to give you a fighting chance.

Deadside AI just one taps you in the face through several meters of soft cover (bushes and shrubs) constantly. It's annoying as all hell, made me uninstall and double down on tarkov.

%100 agree, it's the reason I haven't played lately. I don't mind dying when I mess up, I can learn from my mistakes but nothing can be learned from bad A.I. well maybe do not play.

That, for me, is the worst part of ever fighting bots, the fact they shoot straight through the grass while you can't see even a wisp of them.
