"Farm Folks Combat
Among the most heavily debated and most controversial topics in the Farm Folks community has been (and continues to be) whether or not to add combat into the game. This topic has also been talked about by the team back and forth for months. Games like Harvest Moon and Yonder have no combat, and on the opposite side, games like Rune Factory and Stardew Valley use combat as a means to progress further in the game.
The main question on everyone’s mind remains to be, ‘Will there be combat in Farm Folks?’ and the simple answer to that is: No. Don’t worry though, as we have plans to break up the monotony of the game and keep the progression fun and interesting through other means.
Our Vision for Farm Folks
At the heart of Farm Folks is our point of inspiration - the original Natsume Harvest Moon games. Since 1996, this franchise has produced over 38 titles over various consoles, and among them only one of those titles had a form of combat, which was quickly removed for their next game. For Natsume, their Harvest Moon games were about focusing on farm, community, and the world.
Farm Folks was conceptualized and intended to be a very relaxing, fun, and easy-going experience. We weren’t quite convinced that combat would be relaxing and easy-going.
The Debate
It seems today that almost any game you see on Steam, GOG, or on consoles has some form of combat. Games like Stardew Valley and Rune Factory have given many an expectation for combat in their farming games.
Yet for us we feel that combat took away from the farming focus in games like Stardew Valley and Rune Factory, where some people would spend more time fighting monsters while mining for ore upgrades than building a booming farm or ranch. This is not something we want to risk with Farm Folks, and would like to make it very clear that farming will be the core gameplay component.
The Decision
Although combat isn’t and will not be implemented into the game, rest assured that we have looked over our design plans and discussed among both our team and our community to come up with a way to fill that void for players.
Thanks to some awesome community suggestions, we’ve settled on a light version of hunting and trapping to solve several of our posed problems. Not only does this give the player a means of acquiring various meats, it gives them one more thing to do around the island while keeping combat away from the primary gameplay loop.
We know that some people will be upset about not having combat, but we ask that you trust us to create a fun and relaxing farming game for you. Trust us, the combat won’t be missed!"

if not combat make taming a vital part of the game and breeding so you get your fix of a challenge.
for these games to get astronomical success though they need combat, I really think the only game that knocked the no combat out of the park was animal crossing.
it's going to really REALLY depend on its world simulation if there is no combat, my summer vacation does this well (like animal crossing)..something needs to be happening all the time.
Skyrim/red dead make sure when you're traveling something always happens every 5 minutes.
Or, for example, Portal Knights have battles, but for me this game is boring. I can not say that the game is bad, but I personally feel bored...
The bottom line is that battles are not a recipe for success.
I think it is a matter of taste, i think harvest moon would be better with combat.

It seems to you that the game will be better if battles are added. But this does not mean that the game will really get better. The nuances are important, not the battles themselves.
For example, frequent primitive monotonous battles in the Portal Knights are battles. But it quickly gets boring and turns into a boring routine exercise.
If fights are added just for the sake of an additional item in the game description, it will not be useful and no one will be happy.
im sorry i do not like that game, i like games like stardew valley or harvest moon, i think harvest moon would be better if combat it is added, obviusly you can not add combat just like that "add monsters and swing a sword", there's a lot of possibilities, the game can be spiced up with combat. but, as i told you, i think it is all about taste. sorry about my bad english.
EDIT. the second game you told me looks great, thanks.
