the game makes me resent willow
like, she isn't mean or spiteful or anything but it is super creepy how she desperately clings to my side. the game tells me we have to live next to each other, the game tells me we have to hang out a couple times a week(i get way more willow requests to hang out than any other single villager), the game tells me that she likes me and i should like her back, the villagers tell me she likes me and some of them tell me i should like her back, she tells me she likes me and i used to like her back. i am encouraged to raise my relationship with her very quickly so i can have basic progression tools which means even before i meet most of the other characters or have visited any place of importance i am encouraged to have her be my bestie and be ok with flirting with her

it makes me feel like she is a creepy stalker even though i know, objectively, she isn't any worse than say mel or ash or iris. i really don't like it and i really don't like that i am only allowed a choice IF i am willing to be cold and avoid game progression or if i am ok with stringing her along for profit

tldr? why cant i just live my dumb gay life with dark breeding blue floofs and petting cute cats?

I feel you.

This game isn't nearly as free as it looked before I bought- have to decorate the houses a certain way, have to arrange then a certain way, etc

I'm still having fun, but this is a valid complaint. I wouldn't call Littlewood a sandbox, but it sure is painted up as one.

I reached level 99 with Dalton before speaking a second time with Willow :v

yeah, it is not quite what it was pitched as. i mean, the things it advertised are not _untrue_ they just come at the cost of being able to play the game properly. i didnt even know i missed multiple events because i didn't talk to her enough to get the grants for them even though i had already talked to her a lot. truthfully it would be better if once you met a page of wishes you could make changes without the page going backwards and undoing your work. that would be a good compromise for people who want to build their towns their own way but also want to sell things at the market, water flowers and otherwise play the game as they please

that is pretty hardcore. i am not sure how i would manage knowing i was locked out of completing the game or raising several of my stats or getting some of the townfolk

I know how you feel, I feel pretty bad even when I have to give compliments to the townsfolk, considering that in the game I have already married with Dalton.

see, now i wish this game had a modding community(or even just the creator being around). i've dabbled in this sort of thing with stardew valley and i'd be more than willing to work with someone who knew the code on it x___x

I've been looking at reddit and apparently the game does not support mods, it is necessary to inject the changes on the main code. I don't know the code but I know how to code, then let me know when you start to develop the mod, I would be happy to help.

you and i are in the same spot then. this uses unity and i only know json and little bit of lua and even then i need to have access to the game's internal naming system and an API to work with those, you know? i am not a developer only a modifier

Well, I,m developer, but I don't have much idea how to make mods.

I'd say you're being a bit dramatic about Willow. The request targets are random and you can raise everyone's hearts easily just by talking to everyone everyday, which is quickly done as part of your daily rounds.

Having Willow tag along is entirely optional and the only person that bangs on about how you used to be with her is Dudley, which is on point for an old guy personality. You're not forced to rush gaining hearts with her, she's just used as a tutorial for the mechanics of the game.

She was clearly in love with you before you lost your memory so i find her behaviour and wanting to be near you fitting, also it's 16 squares, you can put her a fair distance away and still satisfy the want.

But the game can improve in that aspect, for example after the wedding with Dalton the relationship with the townsfolks increased dramatically, which made an event with Willow and Dalton jump the next day, where she says that we get along very well, even showing intentions to start a love relationship. I think that at least those events should be avoided if a wedding has already taken place, another solution is to use alternate events.

I dubbed her 'Creepy Stalker Lady' before I learned all the townsfolk's names for these very reasons. She doesn't come across as a friend who your character could develop a romantic relationship with, as do most of the other townsfolk. Instead, she comes across as trying to push a romantic relationship onto the hero character from the start.
I also think some of her daily dialogue and some of Dudley's regarding the hero character and her should be altered post dating/marriage of another townsfolk. It seems kind of inappropriate for them to keep bringing up the special relationship you used to have before the hero's amnesia after that point.

this is exactly it! even ash, a character who's day-one dialogue mentions he wants to date you doesn't push push you like that. it is a weird thing that gives me tifa/cloud vibes(though part of that might be i am literally married to poundland sephiroth, lol). one person has a lot more investment than the other and the game is not interested in the player's thoughts on the matter

I hate to say this, but I developed an early aversion to Willow's clinging from the start. Some of her lines about remembering the past are annoying - and one of them is downright nasty (jealousy?). Good thing is you can just ignore her past the requisite outings. And I agree there's a problem with Ash making an awkward pass shortly after you meet him.

I remember Bubsy making a horrible comment about Dalton, since then I never spoke to him again.
