I'm looking into early game solutions that will extend the day if players want to play with longer days. I'm thinking of allowing fruit/veggies to be eaten, which would reduce the day's energy bar. What do you think of this idea?
Your idea is still kind of a temporary thing which I'm not too fond of actually.
But since you're here, let me tell you that I love the game anyways and I see how much love you have put into it. :)
I think another thing that would help is not taking stamina/time for talking to people, if you want to talk to every one every day it takes a pretty big chunk of your time away. I've started only talking to one person a day, the one i'm going to hang out with.
Well I mean, if it were irl, would you really talk to EVERY single person EVERY day? The idea of hanging out with different folks each day just seems more reasonable to me. Infact, I feel like hanging out with different people should influence what you do. It just makes sense to me that If you hang out with ash you get some kind of boost to mining (even if it's a higher rare drop chance.) Or if you hang out with bubsy your chance to make masterpieces increases. I think a reason to hang out with the individual townsfolk would make it more special.
Also, I don't really feel like the days need to be longer because there's really no need to get everything done in one day. I feel like if they were, I'd be going through the game way too quickly. But if something did increase the length of days I think it should be something made with a rare item drop and not be permanent. For example maybe the 'old leaf' could create something that made fall days longer. And if you craft something with dandelions it would make spring days longer. Would give more use to the crafting workshop~
as an added note, hanging out with specific towns people and getting a chance to get more of a specific item besides just dew drops maybe might fit in with this~ but that's just my 5 cents X3
I agree that maybe permanent stamina buffs could tie in with some of the unimplemented events? For example if you finish first in a competition or attend something for 3 years in a row, etc..
Also, while I like the idea of being able to eat food to recover stamina though I don't think that should be the main method and should be limited in some ways. Maybe like you can eat up to 3 items a day or something, and most items only recover small amounts.
Also, I'm under the impression that my dad won't come back in year 3 to judge me on this town for some video game reason. GO AWAY DAD THIS IS MY TOWN!
I mean if i lived in a town of like 10 people, then yeah i think i would at least say hi to everyone every day xD i mean, i walk right past them after all. Irl it would be kind of rude to ignore them as much as i do. Also talking to people who give you absolutely no benefit take energy too, and i find that super weird (Pig guy, the witches in the forest, forge cyclops dude, etc...). It kind of discourages me from talking to them, when i feel like i should want to be talking to them to learn about the world and lore.
Anyway i do like the idea of getting some boosts from the specific person you're hanging out with.
I'm kind of anti social so maybe that has something to do with it lol! but yea I definitely agree with you on how weird it is that people outside of town take energy from you. Maybe have it that none of the npcs take energy but townsfolk only level up when you actually hang out with them. It would give a reason to and wouldn't punish you for just talking with people.
Have you thought about maybe a Sleeping Bag. but instead of full energy perhaps you only get like 3/4 full energy.
