Game lacks controller support?

Purchased the game under the impression that it had controller support. After attempting to use an Xbox controller, the menus wouldn't react to any input and I couldn't play the game.

I checked the options menu to see if I missed a setting, and found nothing there.

There's a discussion over a year old that had a solution that didn't fix my issue, so I thought it would be smart to open a new one, since new players are purchasing the game through the current sale.

I am in the same boat. I purchased this because it had controller support but it is not working for me. I tried the fix in the older discussion and the issue remains unresolved. There are no options in game. Keyboard controls are working fine and my controller works in all other games. I am also using an XBox controller.

I tried with Switch pro and Ps4 controllers even if it pops up that gamepad configured on the bottom right and they dont work too

oh nvm saw on another topic of changing controller configuration from gamepad to keyboard (wasd) and mouse and it works, weird that it had to change into that though

I had this same issue. I unplugged my controller from its usb port and put it in another usb port while the game was running, and it started working.

Last time I played was 25. October and my Switch controller worked fine by using Big Picture. Today I went back to the game and the controller did nothing, didn't work in the menu or in game. Turning off Steam input per-game settings made the controller do something at least but the controls were all over the place, basically unusable as there's no option for configuration. Looking at other recent discussions this seems to be a recent problem and I'm hoping for it to be fixed soon. Before this there definitely was controller support.

Yeah I’m seeing this on a lot of other posts, there’s even an entry in the game’s wiki that has an official controller configuration listed. Maybe an update happened and it cut controller support unintentionally?

Same here, xbox controller suddenly stopped working last week.

Using a custom tweaked version of the "mouse and keyboard" controller configuration now to map WASD to the d-pad, but the native recognition of directx may be borked?

How do you actually do this? I'm a little lost. not seeing any options for Keyboard or WASD controls in my controller settings/configurations

you can try to download "JoyToKey"
it helps alot
