These three can be found in any of the endless forest, season doesn't seem to matter (summer and fall have been the same)

They come in the colours

• White
  
• Red
  
• Yellow

Then you get the other flower types

Wicked
Floof
Tootsie

White + White = Blue
Blue + Red = Purple
Purple + Purple = Rare

So I set up some test patches and found that:

Lollypop+Dewcap=Tootsie
Zigzag+Lollypop=Wickid
Dewcap+Zigzag=Floof

Also, you can breed white, red, blue, and yellow from these. All secondary colors come from breeding the actual flower type. For example:

Red Dewcap + Red Zigzag can create a Red Floof
BUT Red Dewcap + Blue Zigzag cannot create a Purple Floof
(to get a Purple Floof you need to breed a Red Floof with a Blue Floof)

Also, orange is Yellow+White not Red+Yellow. It took me a long time to figure this out.

Edit. Can confirm that rare is Purple+Purple and not Yellow+Purple! Thanks both of you for this helpful guide!

Omg orange should be yellow + red, that is actually a bug. Everything else you posted there is correct!

Seems like the flowers go with something adjacent to themselves so

With O as the original flower and X as its baby the spots it can spread to

Seems like to get a hybrid they need to have both try and spread, which reduces the odds of it happening

With S as the secondary type of flower
And H as the resulting hybrid expected locations

So the hybrid can spawn in spots that are adjacent to the other

or

My original tests I think I had flowers too close to each other and was doing blocks of multiple of X colour + Y colour in

So the ones beside each other were able to spread to the their own kind rather than the others which lead to some confusing test results

Can confirm

Same type and colour = Same type and colour

White + White = White
Yellow + Yellow = Yellow
Red + Red = Red
White + Red = Pink
Red + Yellow = Orange
White + Yellow = Blue maybe by default?
White + White = Blue mabye per jhellen - All my white solo patches were always white
Blue + Red = Purple
Purple + Purple = Rare

Lollypop + Dewcap = Tootsie
Zigzag + Lollypop = Wickid
Dewcap + Zigzag = Floof

Also flowers don't require another flower beside them to spread, I've had it happen with solo flowers in the middle of nowhere land spread

I've also had them spread after multiple days of no rain and no watering but it seems much slower

I would venture a guess that watering them = 10-20% chance that they will spread the next day

I would say the MOST efficient for watering and for getting hybrid spreads would be

Which would allow you to water them in one direction as you go by

Then just weed out new growths everyday and rewater
