How do I unlock the other areas?

I've been playing for a while now, enjoying it, but now I'm kinda doing same-same everyday. Trying to give the villagers what they want, but one item (birdnest table or something like that) requires some materials I suspect is on one of the other areas that's not unlocked yet. Must I perhaps unlock everything in Endles Forest and Dust Cavern first? A push in the right direction would be appreciated. :)

You are going to need to unlock the Dawn and Dusk Planks in your town. To do that you are going to want to pay attention to the Deluca Auction house for things called Totems or Lode Stones.

I see. I have no idea where this Deluca thing is though.

Port Deluca is one of the travel places available through the hot air balloon. The auction house is one of the upgrades through the town upgrade in the centre of the port.

Man, I feel silly right now. No wonder I couldn't go anywhere else than the forest and cavern (which was actually my main issue). Upgrading the air balloon didn't occur to me at all! =P
Thanks anyway, I'll keep it in mind once it's done and I'm actually able to get there. :)

Just a hint for anyone else finding this discussion:
Auction House is the last upgrade for Port Deluca. Focus on this upgrade, because it can take a long while before the Totems randomly generate, and those Dusk Planks are needed for a lot of late-game recipes.
