Battle Scene Inactive?

First off I wish to say that ATONE is a wonderful game, and very creative and challenging. (Especially with a badly damaged left hand.) I may not be able to complete the game without resorting to the easiest mode, but I certainly intend to try!

I got as far as this battle past the maze, and while the light increases and decreases, I can't find anyway to make anything else happen:

I would not be at all surprised to learn I'm during something wrong, but since I was unable do anything (and had to use Task Manager to exit), I think I need a hint.
Local files checked out OK.

thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear you had a problem.
To help us understand your situation better, could you please tell us if did defeat the enemy in the screenshot you have shared?
If so, there should be a door opening at the top and you can head out of Nastrond into the next chapter.

What you see in the screenshot is as far as I progressed.

To confirm:
While the lighting did ebb and flow, indicating the game was awaiting either input or some internal action, none of the keys had any effect. (Not even ESC.) Nor did waiting prove fruitful.

As stated, I used Task Manager to leave the game, but Alt-F4 might have also worked.

If you think we might learn something I'd be willing to try again.

That's weird, have you tried again?
So pressing A on your controller or space on keyboard does nothing?

I'll try again in a few minutes, but yes, exactly that.

I've > 2,000 Steam games, and have been PC gaming for >35 years, and that's very uncommon. Right off, I can't name a single instance where a game remained active, yet accepted no input of any kind. (I'm certain there must have been some cases in my long gaming experience.)

Yes, this time things went as you describe. While I'm not inclined to suggest that my original result should be ignored, I see no reason to focus on it as long as I'm the only player with this particular issue.

I'm really impressed by ATONE (and I confess I learned of ATONE as the result of ARISE, which holds a special place in my heart, and the amazing price for ATONE of only $4.20 USD as the single item remaining in the ARISE/ATONE bundle. Had the bundle not been promoted I doubt I'd have known of it, though it was on my WL)

As mentioned, my left hand is of very limited use, and so I want to just take a moment and thank the ATONE development team for offering a workaround for people such as myself. So far I haven't needed it to succeed (at least minimally), and I am grateful for your uncommon thoughtfulness.

I've been promoting ATONE among my friends, and will write a review when I have enough time invested for it to be meaningful.

I too have the same issue including it being my left hand (I'm also left-handed) & have very limited use after using it repetitively as along with pain i also lose all feeling in hand. However I'm not sure that is why I'm losing every battle in easy mode....I simply can't seem to coordinate both buttons at the same time. I try to press the down button in sync with the left side & A with the right down side but can't get it right no matter how much i try....am I doing it wrong? (Also why does the right side move further over?) Is there some way of slowing both down? I can't play platformers for this very reason with some exceptions such as Inside, Lil Nightmares, Planet of Lana, Figment etc. (I can even play Walking Dead repetitive pressing in fights). I had to stop playing Darq (due to speed puzzle I couldn't skip), Sally Face (due to rapid musical sequence), Senua's Hellblade (due to increasingly hard boss fights) etc....I was soooo disappointed! Is this game going to get harder? Anyhow, if there is anyway I can continue playing the battles and hopefully win I would really appreciate it as I luv this game! Thx for listening :) Cheers!
