how to leave a sour taste(minor spoilers about the ending)
make the player retrace the entire bloody game looking for green pots...

seriously, was really enjoying the game right up till that, did every other ancient seal or whatever they were called no issue, found most of them fun and interesting, some cool puzzles but then all of a sudden throw the puzzles out the window; its instead just a laborious and tedious task of mindlessly running through the whole damned game looking for all the green pots you didn't use...

i even collected all the seeds with out even realising it but my innate gamer instinct is to hoard healing items so of course i have 12 pots left at the end of the game unused -.-

true ending was cool; was it worth having to find 12 pots across the whole game map? probably not. did it sour my experience and leave a bad feeling to the game? definitely.

its not like its even about forcing you to 100% the game to experience the true ending since theres a bunch of shinys you could leave and still get all the ancient seals or whatever they're called(correct me if im wrong). couldn't you have just made an actual puzzle? or a fight? something fun...

I believe Pothead gives you indications of where to search for pots, and that the doors tell you where there's stuff left to do, so unless you managed to leave one pot empty per map, you probably didn't need to go through the whole game.
I do agree that it's a bit annoying, especially since with the thing about keeping extra healing items.

i pretty much left atleast 1 empty per map, literally all but 3 doors were red(thankfully i realised that the crow camp and witches estate were due to the story elements) when i needed to start to searching for pots and while pothead does tell you which general area they're in he doesn't tell you how many; am i looking for one pot or 3? who knows unless i go back through a door, do i keep running through the map or die to get to a door and check and maybe have to go back through it all again

plus the cemetery has some really obscure ones due to the silent servants.

i will admit the doors losing the red glow is at least one nice quality of life thing but just a really tedious way to end the game

When i found the "seed" door, i already backtracked through the entire game to find all the shrines, most shiny collectible, and all the other tablets, so i had to go through every area in details again to plant 26 seeds :/
And after hours of post game collecting stuff, you don't get a final fight, it's not worth it.

This is the worst par of the game by far. I only planted a couple of seeds because usually health given back by entering the doors was enough, now I have to find close to 50 pots in ordrer to progress, what a terrible design decision.

I'm in the same boat. I hoarded my seeds because I didn't know planting them did anything useful besides giving me a healing point (and I would just run back to the door instead, because I don't like spending items if I don't have to). If I had known that planting seeds had ANY importance I would have done it a lot more. I think I ended the game with 30 seeds and I'm pretty sure I didn't pick them all up. I thought I was doing well by not spending them. (Like, I thought I'd get a bonus or achievement by hoarding them. Whoops.)

It would have been nice if some NPC (the gravedigger, maybe?) called me out and said "Hey, you have a lot of seeds. You should put those in pots as you go and make the world a prettier place in these dark times. It might be nice to do, even if you feel like you don't need to consume anything." or something.

that would have been very helpful!
