How do you know when the game saves?

I have been playing for almost an hour, but I have no idea if the game has saved or not.

How can I tell when the game saves, please? I don't want to lose a bunch of progress.

Usually whenever you 'touch' something i.e. a lever it saves or walk through a door or change an area.

The little bird shows up in the corner.

If this is the save indicator, it needs to be WAY more visible and obvious.

[update] Well, apparently it doesn't save like you say, because I died at the Guardian of the Door boss, and it put me all the way back to the beginning of the graveyard, and I now have to redo a huge section again. What a waste of time.

Skip to 7 seconds and look in the bottom right.

Ok, thank you. Apparently that save doesn't matter if you die. You have to restart the entire level all over again. Bummer.

Yeah that isn't true at all.

What do you mean? I died at the Guardian boss, and it put me back at the beginning of that level, far away from the Guardian boss. What isn't true about this, please?

Whenever I went to an area and picked up a life seed or something i could confidently leave the game and it would be saved, just put me back at the door. So in my expierence almost everything I did would be saved and I could leave and rejoin to get to the door quick.

You spawn at the door not where you died

I figured out what I was doing wrong. When I died at the boss, I went the wrong way after respawning, and ended up having to work my way the LONG way through the level to get back to the boss. Apparently there is a much quicker way that I missed.
