Do upgrades do anything?

I've put three ranks in melee and I seem to be doing the same damage. Range might be slightly longer?
I put two ranks in haste and I see no difference in rolling, walking speed is not noticeably faster.

they do. in this game, the upgrades are hard to notice.

Ah, just went back to an earlier area and some enemies are taking 1 less hit than before, so I'm definitely doing more damage.

Upgrading haste has the least noticeable affect compared to the others, I'm not sure if it's even worth upgrading. But strength, dex and magic are all worth it!

From what I can tell, haste increases your I frames on your rolls. It's worth it if you wanna take fewer hits.

magic damage is extremely noticeable, especially when you find the upgrades for certain spells. The upgrades aren't too noticeable in most fights, but when you get near the end of the game and you're fighting multiple waves of enemies, it's a huge help to kill an enemy in 2 or 3 hits instead of 4 or 5, especially when using the sword of greatsword.
