Going up the stairwell above the map room

Hi!

We're currently playing the game with the intention of letting all 400 days pass, and not leave before we awaken the king. So when we found the room with the map carved into the wall and the staircase leading upwards and got a warning about "no turning back if you go to the surface" we kind of hesitated.

What exactly does that mean - can we go up the staircase and into the next room, explore some more there and still return down again, or will we effectively end the game if we do so?

We've just started to get to some new places and we still have a lot left to explore, so we wouldn't want to end just yet...

you are fine for now. it will be a fair while before you have an opportunity to actually leave even if you go through the door

Ok! Good to know, would hate it if we never explored that part of the cave just because we were afraid of losing all our other progress. :)
