Map?

It's not clear what I'm supposed to do to get the map. I found the place which seemingly contains the map, the Shade says it will take some time to decipher it, but I don't really see the option to even start. I don't need any spoilers or hints, I just have a question:

Should I just leave him there in front of the place in question for a while? Or I should just ignore it for now and keep exploring?

well that's what happens if you just rip the assets from the game files...

To show the map the game just zooms out the camera and uses that asset as a background instead of the generic black. The map room and the ones next to it are loaded in the scene so they don't need to be in the background.

The background for those rooms is another asset so you can just paste them in place on paint. I did that for my personal map.
