Frustrated with mushrooms
So I was fairly lucky in discovering quickly that green mushrooms can grow into large mushrooms if placed correctly. I've grown five but for some reason they are never close enough to the ledge. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I went as far as I could to plant it and then it never grew. I planted another at the next opportunity and it wasn't close enough.

I can't seem to get consistent results. Plant green first, then purple? Plant purple first, then green? This feels like something that is going to screw me out of the ending I want.

Yeah, it's meant to be a puzzle, but if there's consistent rules about mushrooms, making them take ages to grow, not be visible when planted and all look the same is not a good way to go about it.

Haven't figured it out yet but here's my idea.

Perhaps *pink* mushroom grows big if there're *green* ones next to them. I planted green one next to two pink ones (and at a place where pink was before) and one of the pink ones grew big (it was small beforehand). And I planted pink in the middle of green ones (and at a place where green one was before) and this pink one grew big.

Yep. Plant pink one at the rightmost possible position. Plant green one at the closest position to it. Wait ~10 hours.

It is a hard puzzle but it is not random. Remove the mushrooms to the far right first before you try again. And go back to the cave with the mutated mushrooms to make observations that may help you. Sorry, have to be vage.

I agree with 5 bears. That you can't see anything immediately after planting is a problem. I was under the impression that I could plant both in the same spot, but that's not the case.

Thank you guys for your input. We'll discuss in the team what could be done about that.

So, I still get the feeling I am screwed.

I've planted the purple/pink one as far right as I can and I'm not getting the option to plant the green one anywhere except for where it's too far away.

Mind you, this is a counter-intuitive solution to begin with. I thought the green needed to be as close as possible, so that is the very first thing I ever did, but at no time has that first mushroom I planted ever shown. I can't grow there, I can't inspect there, I can't harvest there, I can't mattock there.

4 cycles of large shrooms have grown since then, all too far away.

Look at my screenshot. See where the big mushroom is? You need to plant pink there, basically go as far to the right as possible right up next to cliff and plant pink. Then plant the green one at closest possible place (in your screenshot it would be instead of the right pink shroom). You can't plant green one in proper place because you already have a pink one there.

This really isn't that difficult.

So what you're saying is that pink turns into a large green shroom? Because that makes no sense. When I see a large green shroom I expect that it's the green shroom that's getting larger.

But of course I would never know this since I have to leave the area to accelerate time.

But how do I get back once the big mushroom becomes "weird"?
Are the pink/purple ones the ones that glow, or the other pink/purple ones?

Yep, that’s what I expected too. :/

There is a section of the cave that has both glowing (pink/purple) and green mushrooms. Your shade will observe that for some reason, in this room, where both types of mushrooms grow together, the green ones grow quite large. It's relational.

I'm having the same problem right now. I have both the farest and closest as possible pink mushrooms from the climb and I have been planting a green mushroom just right next to the climb and it always grows small. I have no idea what to do to change it, someone please help me
