I don't see the point in cheating, but see even less point in worrying about what others want to do in a single-player game.

I think it's very dumb to use cheat engine after you payed for the game. Furthermore it's single-player game(any programmer can mess with the code and cancel cheat engine blocker) and the idea of using cheat engine is the complete opposite of the game idea /:

What I wonder about however is if there's a way to prevent people from fast-forwarding via messing with your system clock. (assuming there's a way to block it other than connecting to the internet and referencing a clock that isn't likely to be messed with)

You are correct, unfortunately there is no other way than referencing an online clock since every system/BIOS clock can be manipulated all too easily.

Luckily, the game only needs to check once on startup, so no constant internet connection is required.
