Tips for beating the Tank boss?

I've been throwing myself at the tank boss over and over for about an hour now with no success. I've read all the tips I can find online, and they work - for dealing with the tank itself. Circle-strafing with the Sprinter perk lets me reliably dodge his rams and missiles. The problem I'm having is with the minions. If the game spawns in a bunch of weak minions, like the flying orbs and the grenade guys, it's no problem, but when the game decides to spawn in a full wave of the heavy machine gunners and rocket mechs, it's basically game over for me. Even if I survive that wave of minions, I've lost so much health that I die soon after.

Any tips for dealing with the minions?

The easiest way to beat it is with the Ghost perk and using the Storm Rage spell near the adds when they spawn.

You can farm XP by using the level select feature from the main menu if you don't have perk points and the Storm Rage spell is located near the portal during the first boss encounter.

ves know what hes talking about. guides do well for pre buff, but the spawns are too fast and powerful, and do need a nerf. my advice is if u get near a spawn use storm rage. but other than that concentrate on the tank, kill as fast as possible with most powerful weapons you have. ignore loot and just escape, spawns dont disappear when boss is dead.

I just spammed all my rockets as fast as i could, then changed to the magic beam and lastly emptied my chaingun. Move all time, try to build up distance so he will not hit you when he lunges across the map and avoid killing the other enemies unless they are blocking your way, since they will only respawn and waste your time and ammo. Lost +20 lifes on him but after trying it the way destribed i took my only 3 times to barely succeed. Did not try any of the spells though since i barely used magic in the game cause i need my mana for the beaming staff. :)

The move speed and ghost perks make it pretty trivial and you just DPS it down with whatever big guns you got. I wiped it on hard before any real add pressure started up.
