And you would need a ton of upgrades to beat that trap.
This ought to help you get past the enemies much faster. I reccomend using a mouse and keyboard if possible (if you're not already), as it makes playing games like these much easier.
Remember to use corners to your advantage, and make sure to strafe around the enemy projectiles!
Your progress saves after you clear a zone and return back to the workshop, which there are a certain ammount of levels in a zone.
Keep an eye out for cracked walls (opened by hitting them with an axe) and walls that are sort of out of place looking (opened by pressing the 'use' button on them), as they'll give you health, mana, and EXP from the items inside.
Spells are best used in the long range, and the guns are more for the short range, as they're faster firing and have no charging time to do good damage.
You also want to use a mix of both magic, melee, and guns! Saving ammo and mana can be really detremental to your survival, so try using your axe or magic dagger on some of the weaker enemies.
If you're still having trouble with the first section, just keep practicing, and make sure to have fun! Learning and conquering a challenge is part of the fun, don't forget that :P
The progress does save, it just happens every time you enter the workshop. a message "progress saved" should show up together with a sound notification.
Best Regards,
Jakub
I apologize for frustrations.
Same thing when you die. You should never have to replay more than one level, at least on casual difficulty. In fact, it has to start you on your current level, because it actually costs a life to return to the workshop in the middle of a zone.
Also, a side note if you're having trouble in later levels: Playing a single level from the main menu will affect your main save. If you pop into a level and collect health and ammo, you will still have it when you go back to your save by pressing continue. I don't know how this works with experience, but I know I've gained at least one extra stat point just from replaying a level that way.
I haven't read any patch notes for this game, but it most certainly wasn't that way.
I was just frustrated so much by the stupid succubi enemies on this first level and their absurd damage output.
The trap from getting off the lift kept killing me so much I had no clue how to deal with it.
Casual has infinite lives, so I don't mind spending 1 out of infinity from time to time. :)
I just was annoyed so much to die on the second level ever, after finally getting through that trap, and finding out I had to keep playing the same two levels over and over and over again. Without any progression, or any way of progressing at all.
I got good advice here, but I was just so disappointed at first. THe game looked fun, but it needed a lot more balance.
Still have a lot of problems with the knight guys too. But at least they don't shoot at you for 1/3 your health!
There is definitely some weird balance, and even a bug or two that kept getting me killed at one point. I think the game actually gets a bit easier after some upgrades and new weapons.
I'm not sure if the shielded knights have some sort of bullet resistance or not. They seem to take a lot of pistol rounds to kill, compared to how fast they died to my flare gun on the first playthrough. And the staff and crossbow both seem more effective against them.
Shielded knights have special hitbox ;) Shooting their "shields" won't do them any harm, you have to aim for their "body" part!
Crossbow is most likely to penetrate these shields.
Best Regards
Jakub
Ohhh, interesting. I usually aim away from the shield, but I assumed it didn't actually matter since they are billboard sprites. That's cool.
