Yeah, that is true, it's just, wish there was another punching bag on her character other than ''the thing'', but overall it is nice that everyone's treat equally. Mostly everyone is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
In my headcannon for the pure ending, Toby & Erika are still an item, despite the mental shock to Toby.
Yeah, I mean, here's the thing about it right, they should've gave her ♥♥♥♥ for not telling him prior to it, she did lie, and wasnt open with him, to me that's what those ''maybe you shouldnt do it mean, dunno about her hardy har'' should've be aimed at, not just, the thing. I do think that it overall dosent matter honestly, but considering that she wasnt open, i wouldn't put them together, or they might work it out. She DID go through a lot to make that thing happen afterall, as someone that knows a couple of people, it's really not super easy, or cheap, to do so.
I mean the theme of the game is adulthood, relationship, and faithfulness, lies and all of that, so she fits in really.
You'd go "oh, its because Erika is trans, so the devs think trans women arent women", when the truth is "Erika cannot bare offspring and isnt telling her partner".
woh spoilers there mate! Catherine was a niche game, i expect there's in fact some people that was interested but never played it. But yeah I agree.
I don't think they're too hard on Erica at all. If anything, Erica is the douche.
I think the fact Toby didn't get a heads up first was just bad writing. It's not in her character to be like that. They just wanted a trans joke and wrote it in. Nothing about here would imply she'd do that, really
I actually think they are. It's not explicit but in the true ending she has her arms around him for literally minutes. If they weren't okay together, I don't think they'd be like that.
I think they could have handled representation better overall, and made a few less jokes. They really made too many.
That being said, they didn't really represent anyone in a positive light. Men or women. They made relationships look like a mess and that's it.
OP, you should definitely put SPOILERS in the topic title.
Yep you said it better than i could. And fixed, my bad! Man I wonder if in the full body there'll be a babel maker mode, it'd be fun to build puzzles to mess with people. The more i play it the more i want to build a thingie.
For instance, in my first playthough, I didn't notice that Erica was trans through nearly the whole game. She was just a bartender. In certain respects, that IS a well written trans character. After knowing that however, some of the aspects of the writing seemed in bad taste with regards to stereotypes.
However, I recognised something. Erica is not a trans character that is meant to represent or be relatable to trans people. She is a character that is meant to be attractive to straight men (or lesbians or whoever like women, whatevs). She's cute, funny, caring, friendly and her boobs are out and about
She's the one female that you have real conversations with.
They wrote her to be attractive to men so that she would be considered a normal, even attractive, woman right up until the reveal. And then you realise you've been thinking about a trans person this whole time. It was meant to make you question yourself, I think. I feel that was the goal more than anything, and they did a good job of it.
She's universally liked and adored by everyone else, even her old friends.
this sums up perfectly
