Turning without moving?

Do I have to grip a block before I can turn the character to grip a different block, or is this some deadzone issue? Using ps4 controller. Seems like I can only turn him if I grip a block and move the analogue stick lightly. If I don't grip 1st he will go back to autojumping even with a light press.

Sometimes I want to pull a block in, but it just grabs the side blocks and won't let me pull the one in front, I end up pushing it by trying to grip it. Or are just some blocks ungrippable in certain situations and only able to push them?

You can. The game is very sensitive though. I use a 360 controler and I have to move de stick very very slowly to turn without moving. I have used the undo command a lot after moving the wrong bloc because of that.
