I think it's around 9 to 10% completion rate for every ending and most players only complete the game once so it's not that low (besides the fact that the game is quite difficult for some people)
@OP: Low completion rates are pretty common on Steam. The game Stardew Valley, for example, has overwhelmingly positive reviews, like 97% positive score... and only like 20% of people have gotten an achievement you can get in year 1.
For comparison, clearing Chapter 9, which I believe is the final chapter of Catherine, has a 20%ish completion rate. The game might be too hard for some, or just not hold their interest. It took me 3 tries before I got into the game; I kept beating the first level, then not wanting to continue because I'm bad at the puzzles. :P
I've played the console version years ago a bit years ago, so I was excited to get the pc version. I haven't used any guides in my run, but being very thorough in general, I've talked with all npcs and saved the game often. If I saw someone leaving early I bothered me to miss out the story, I usually loaded up the save until I got a general idea who usually leaves first and who stays until the end. I got the cheevo for helping 'em all out, and only realised that they would end up poorly if I didn't talk with them. But again, I imagine ppl in general don't talk with everyone or exhaust their dialogues.
What I sturggle with is getting gold on hard difficulty, finishing babel and finishing rapunzel puzzles. But that comes down to practice, technique and fast decision-making, I just have to get better or be a lamb and read/watch guides.
